Best Cabin Camping near Meeker, CO

Several cabin camping options exist in the Meeker, Colorado area, with varying levels of amenities and comfort. Trailhead Cabins and Lodging, located at 173 1st Street, offers A-frame cabins with full kitchen facilities and private bathrooms. These furnished cabins include enough space for multiple families, with one reviewer noting, "It was nice to have 2 bathrooms with showers and enough room for 2 separate families." Trail and Hitch, another Meeker option, provides cabin accommodations alongside their RV sites. Ute Lodge, situated on County Road 75, features cabin rentals with electricity, water hookups, and access to shared bathroom facilities. Most cabins in the region include basic furniture, heating systems, and some form of cooking facilities.

Rustic cabins and more deluxe options are available depending on location and price point. Pet-friendly cabins can be found at several properties including Ute Lodge and Trail and Hitch, though policies vary by location. Elk Creek Campground, while not in Meeker proper, offers log cabins along a creek with a natural setting. According to one visitor, "Very nice looking little cabins are available should you have forgotten your camping equipment. But they do ask you to bring your own linens!" The Craig KOA, operating seasonally from April to November, provides standardized cabin accommodations with typical KOA amenities. Advance reservations are strongly recommended for all cabin rentals, especially during summer months when availability becomes limited.

Most cabin rentals require guests to bring their own bedding, pillows, and towels unless specifically stated otherwise. Kitchen supplies vary significantly between properties, with some offering fully equipped kitchens while others provide only basic amenities like microwaves or mini-refrigerators. Trailhead Cabins includes complete kitchen setups suitable for preparing family meals. Small convenience stores operate at some locations, but for substantial grocery shopping, the town of Meeker has several markets for stocking cabin kitchens. Firewood is typically available for purchase at campgrounds where outdoor fire pits are provided, though fire restrictions may apply seasonally. Visitors planning extended stays should consider bringing specialty food items, as rural store selections may be limited.

    Glenwood Canyon Resort

    Very small riverside sites

Honestly, we were a little bit disappointed with our stay. Stayed in one of the riverside sites, thought they views and facilities were worth the expensive rate in summer. However, all picnic tables were removed (I assume) in order to make room for more sites. Meaning that you had nowhere to sit and eat - and you practically were sitting in your neighbor’s site when using the fire pit. The views of the river and the mountains were truly great, however, mostly masked by looking into the side of the rigs on either site. We had a 30ft RV and there was not much place to navigate - I would not recommend for rigs larger than that. Showers and bathrooms were ok, but could use an update (eg for more privacy - you step directly from the shower into the common area to dress/undress). Too bad the restaurant was closed to lack of staff - that would have been a great add-on. The staff was very friendly!

    Elk Creek Campground

Beautiful, serene camping along creek (with new owners)

Not your typical asphalt RV parking lot. Rarely can you find a full hookup site in a natural setting along a roaring creek. The park has a variety of accommodations with full hookup sites, a “tent” section with electricity (lovely for small RVS as well) and log cabins. Many of the sites are along the creek as it meanders through the camp.

Location is great as well. Easy drive from I-70 but far enough to be out of town. Also a quick drive into Glenwood Springs.

New owners purchased park in April 2021 and are improving facilities while maintaining the natural feel. Check-in was easy even without reservations. The new owners are very friendly and welcoming.

    Glenwood Canyon Resort

    Camping on the Colorado River

At Glenwood Canyon Resort you get to camp right on the Colorado River in a beautiful canyon but its definitely the most expensive tent camping I've ever paid for. Amenities are taken care of from the store at the check in station to the bar and grill that's on site. It has an awesome deck with a view of the canyon but I didn't get to enjoy it. When we checked in we were told it was pet friendly but when we went the bar tender told us our dogs weren't allowed and didn't seem happy to be there, so I had to go back to the campsite and eat and drink by myself. It's okay though because when my wife came back she said the food wasn't that great and they had no craft beer on tap. Aside from all that, the number of outdoor activities and place to see around here are endless, whitewater rafting, kayaking, skiing, mountain biking, climbing, hang gliding, disc golf, etc.......are all within a short car or bike ride and that's were all 3 stars are earned. Definitely worth it if your just passing through but there are many options around here if your staying for some time.

    Glenwood Springs West/Colorado River KOA

    Efficient and clean

After driving 4-10 hour days from Canada in our 16’ travel trailer, staying at Harvest Hosts, we decided to stop here to prep and regroup for the next leg of our journey. Full hook ups allowed us to flush our water systems, recharge all batteries and devices, and wait out some seriously nasty wind, like lift the trailer right off the ground wind (well felt like it I swear!). The place is super clean, easy to access, has great views and a helpful staff. Pet friendly with a small off-leash dog area even. Looks good for families too with a pool and water park, playground. Wifi was good and cell service at 2 bars. Not cheap but easy access to supplies and touristy spots.

    Ami's Acres Campground

Close to Glenwood Springs and Hanging Lake

General: A mix of pull-thru RV sites, back-in van sites, and walk-in tent sites. We called about two weeks prior and were happy to secure a site on a Saturday at the very end of April. This campground is located right on I70 so you will definitely hear highway noise (and occasional train noise). The sites are stacked on a hillside and as would be expected in an RV park, there is little separation/privacy between sites. The road in is a bit rough but so were many of the area roads after a harsh winter.

Site Quality: Sites are gravel. Site 55 was just long enough for our 18-foot van to fit. Not all of the van sites had picnic tables, but our site had a table where we could set up our camp stove and we ate inside our van. It also looked like there was a gas grill that might be shared for the van sites, but we didn’t inquire about it/use it. We had a fire pit but didn’t use it. Fires are NOT permitted in the RV sites and although there was a sign indicating a fire ban, you could speak with the office to see if fires are currently permitted in designated campfire pits.

Bath/Shower house: Was very clean and nicely appointed. Did not use the shower.

We chose this campground knowing we would hear highway noise, but it was a convenient location for our hike to Hanging Lake the next day. Craig was very welcoming both on the phone and upon our arrival.

    Ami's Acres Campground

    Cute stop in off i70

Ami’s acres was a sight for sore eyes after sitting on the i70 for hours waiting for an accident to be cleared. Coming in at night is DARK but the host was friendly and welcoming even after midnight. The bathrooms were up a bit of a hill where we were situated at the top of the campground but super clean and warm. Hot Showers too! There was a larger group cooking area and a table. We didn’t have individual fire rings or tables at our site but others had them. Really cozy little campground, lots and lots of birds in the morning which our daughters enjoyed immensely. Overall for just stoping in for the night it was just what we needed. Don’t let the dark drive way scare you off, it was really a wonderful camp!

Is super attentive. Clean, accessible Bathhouse facilities. Discounts on rafting while booked at GCR. 1.7m to downtown Glenwood, (foodies, cute shops) bike path, or… just hang by the river near the boat launch & tent sites. (Our fav. spots!)
