CAMPER SUMMARY PRESENTED BYFord

Happy Camper RV Park, near Pagosa Springs, Colorado, is a year-round spot that caters to those looking for a place to park their RV or pitch a tent. While it’s one of the few parks open all year, it’s important to know that the atmosphere can be lively, with some visitors mentioning noise from other campers.

The park offers essential amenities like electric hookups and drinking water, making it a practical choice for those needing basic services. Some guests have enjoyed the proximity to the river, although access can be a bit overgrown. As one camper noted, “The only nice part about the area was the river behind the campground.”

If you’re planning to hit the slopes, this location is about 45 minutes from Wolf Creek Ski Area, which is a plus for winter sports fans. Just keep in mind that facilities like bathrooms and showers may not be available, so plan accordingly.

While the park has its quirks, it can serve as a decent base for exploring the surrounding area. Just be prepared for a more rustic experience and a lively crowd.

Not ideal

Stayed here as a lot of dispersed spots were closed due to snow. It’s one of the only year round parks in the area that had availability. I stayed toward the back, multiple trashy campers, no rules so people were running in and out of the park at all hours of the night. Loud music and arguing constantly from this one camper. it was hard to get some sleep as it would sound like people were talking right outside our camper. The only nice part about the area was the river behind the campground, however, it’s definitely not worth $45/night.

Sad Camper RV Park

This is one of the only only parks open year round in the area. It is 45 min from Wolf Creek Ski Area. They list that there are bathrooms and showers but once you arrive you find out they are “closed for COVID” so we had to drive to the gas station 10 minutes away every time we had to use the restroom as it’s too cold to run water in the camper. This park appears to be many folks’ permanent residence. Not worth $45/night but if it’s the only option close to Wolf Creek, so be it. 🤷🏼‍♀️
