Beautiful spot

Beautiful location and very well maintained. Just a lot of road noise even through the night from high speed traffic to and from Steamboat.

Beautiful spot on Yampa

The campground is beautiful, staff is friendly, you get a covered picnic table. The disappointing thing is the nice bathroom and showers are closed 10pm -6am, just a vault toilet is available during those closed hours. The have a path you can walk or bike that is a little over a mile but be ready the mosquitos are fierce. There are also small black bugs that seem to out also.

Exactly what a State Park should be!

I'm not a huge fan of State Parks, but when it's time, it's time.  This one has showers (included in the fee), laundry, wifi at the entrance building.  The RV sites are a bit close together, the tent sites are much more private.  The RV sites have an awning-like structure with an enclosed side to the west.  It provides nice cover for the summer afternoon showers.  There are lots of mosquitos as it's in Yampa river bottom land.  There is a nice reservoir and swimming beach at a nearby state run park (your fee for camping at YRSP will get you into the other park).  We stayed 2 nights after dispersed camping for a week - showered, did laundry, battled the mosquitos.

Nice spot

This seems like a new park, trees are young, picnic tables are all covered. I pulled in before the office closed and got a site, otherwise go to Reservations.gov. Showers and laundry is available near the office. Vaulted toilets are available nearer the camp sites. Well cared for, like I said it seems brand new.

Very nice road side stop

Very close to US40, making it a great place to stop for the night while traveling. Sites are fairly close with little screening. Continuous Highway noise. Sun shelters. It is along the river which is nice. River access.

Cute little state park

This is an okay campground for one night. Pros: easy access, river for fishing, well maintained, handicap campsite with paved area, shelters over picnic tables, nice packed pea gravel perimeter trail that is wheelchair accessible. Cons: no showers, sites are elec only with shared spigots to get water, vault toilets, right on hwy 40 which is super busy so you hear traffic 24/7, the mosquitos here will TOTE YOU OFF!!! They swarm the minute you step outside so be sure to have plenty of bug spray.

Nice, clean, well-kept campground

Well kept campground with nice visitor center. Showers & laundry available. Electric at site for RVs. Also tent camping. Some noise from Route 40 but not bad. Nice stay.

Good RV sites, but not private at all

This campground has nice, easy to access RV sites. The sites have power hookups, picnic tables with shade structures, and grills. The downside is there is minimal privacy due to closely spaced sites and minimal vegetation. The sites are also somewhat expensive, requiring both a reservation fee and a state park access fee. You can walk to the river easily, but the sites are not on the river.

Nice Facility

If it had more trees, it would be five stars. As it is, the campsites are well spaced, so you're not packed in like you would be at a private commercial campground. It has nice amenities, like showers ($1.00 for 4 minutes), and laundry.

Great state park!

Stayed 3 nights in early September in A loop with 30A service. Each sight had a covered picnic table where I stashed the bikes from the elements. Water spigots provide a sight for container water but not RV hook-up. A bike/walking trail of about 1.1 miles through the trees and near the river was very nice, doing several loops. My brother caught a 16" rainbow which provided supper one night. The grounds are well cared for and sights are nicely spaced. This was our second stay here in 13 months. We will return!

No privacy but showers and laundry

Good spot to stop and shower/do laundry in between primitive camping. Each site has a picnic table and a fire pit, the table has cover. Good cell phone coverage. Playground. Showers, laundry. Reservations (at least one day ahead) required.

Pros: — clean facilities: flush toilets, showers (coin operated), washing and drying machines — easy access — right by Yampa River — sites are spacious

Cons: — very few trees — no privacy at all

Nice, clean campground

We spent July 4th holiday at this campground. The site had lots of green grass and some trees. We were close to the boat ramp so it was an easy walk down to the river. We drove out to Steamboat Springs one of the days and had a lot of fun on the river trail. Hayden has minimal services so stop in Craig or Steamboat if you need supplies. Decent cell and 4g reception.

Yampa River Cmap Ground

We came in at night to find our tent sight after back packing for three days. There was not a lot of way finding so it took us over 30 minutes to find where we were going in the dark. There was also a lot of road noise. On the flip side the park is well maintained and the river is beautiful

Huge, lots of RV spots

We got to the campground after closing time for the park headquarters and visitors center and so just had to drive the many loops to find a spot. The main area has power and costs more, but after walking around some we found what we wanted, tent sites. There are only a few, they are powerless, and there is a barbed wire fence between you and the Yampa River, but there was trees and quiet and plenty of elbow room. We will go again but aim straight for the tenting sites next time.
