SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Reservations are available at Ouzel, a drive-in campground in Pike National Forest near Sedalia, Colorado, with nightly fees running $24 and sites open year-round. The campground is small, with roughly 8 to 10 sites total, and fills up on weekends even in winter. Full hookups with water and sewer connections make it accessible for RVs, though one reviewer noted that a 39-foot motorhome fit only with difficulty, and larger rigs should plan accordingly.

River proximity is the defining feature here. Several sites sit directly alongside the water, and campers consistently note that those spots go first. The terrain is open with limited natural shade, so warm-weather visitors should come prepared for sun exposure. Cell coverage is unreliable, with at least one report of zero signal on T-Mobile. "Right on the river, exactly as I hoped," writes Andrew B., who also noted the ability to walk freely in the river itself.

Amenities include drinking water, toilets, fire pits, picnic tables, and a trash dumpster, though availability of some services like firewood and running water has varied across visits and seasons, so confirming current conditions before arrival is worth the effort. Pets and alcohol are permitted. The campground sits within camping areas outside Pike National Forest, a broader zone with additional options if Ouzel is full. Platte River Campground to the southwest provides a nearby alternative for campers who want a different setup along the same stretch of river.

Campers regularly cited the flat, clean sites and excellent river access as major draws. A common theme was basic but adequate facilities with clean restrooms. Road noise varies by site location.

River Campground

This wasn't the campground we were supposed to stay at, but our spot was not ready, so we were able to stay here while we waited. Our 39ft motorhome fit okay, but I wouldn't recommend much more than a smaller trailer for this area. It does get packed on the weekend, even in the snow. There a several sites near the water and some closer to the road side. It's a beautiful area but it is a small Campground so keep that in mind. The only amenities available are a fire pit and picnic table.

nice but little shade

Great place for riverside camping. However, bring your own shade. it was very hot and sunny with little respite. However the proximity to the river was great.

Great for fishing

This site is on an awesome stretch of river.

Park and walk to site. No camp host. No firewood availability. No water. Port-a-potties in lot (10/13/21) Cell service: zero (T-Mobile)

According to the camp host at Lone Rock you are allowed to car/van/ roof top tent camp in the parking lot for the same nightly fee as posted on the board. However, no trailers allowed.

Easy and Pretty

Right on the river, exactly as I hoped. Backed my car up to the barrier and had a lovely time. Outhouses. Trash dumpster. Peaceful and perfect for relaxing. Lovely views, and did I mention you can just walk all over in the river?

Good for a quick night

We were looking for dispersed camping in the area with our first time 5 yr old camper. We didn’t find any (roads were still closed for the season, but thought we might get lucky because it’s been dry and warm) so a ranger told us about this campground. It’s really close to the road, but if you’re there early enough you can get a site closest to the river and it likely drowns out some of the noise. Port-o-let’s were clean and host was kind. Firewood is available, but we didn’t need it.
