Quiet sites, good tree cover, and full hookups make McPhee Campground a functional base for RV travelers and tent campers alike. Set within San Juan National Forest outside places to camp near Dolores, the campground runs from May through mid-October and accommodates rigs up to 54 feet with electric, water, and sewer hookups. Sites are spread with enough distance between them that noise stays low on weekdays, though the campground can fill up. Most sites do not overlook McPhee Reservoir directly, but the walk-in tent loop across the road has more privacy and some water views. The Canyon of the Ancients visitor center is close by, making this a practical stop for campers combining reservoir access with cultural sites.
