West Chemehuevi Mountains

Remote dispersed camping spreads across open desert terrain in the West Chemehuevi Mountains, managed by the Bureau of Land Management. Sites lack defined boundaries, allowing campers to select their own spots along dirt access roads that branch from Highway 95. The area sits roughly 17 miles south of Needles, with Snaggletooth Primitive RV Camp located nearby for comparison. No amenities exist here—campers must bring water, manage waste, and prepare for complete self-sufficiency. The exposed desert landscape provides little natural shade, making this spot most suitable for experienced dispersed campers with appropriate gear and preparation for camping destinations around Needles.
