My daughter and I were on a road trip from Long Beach, CA to Long Beach, WA this April and visited with friends in nearby Murphys. They recommended Big Trees State Park, so we swung by to see if we could nab a spot to camp; sadly, the campground was still closed for maintenance—tree clearing,…

We tent camped on the river here and really enjoyed our stay. We floated on the river in tubes, visited Nearby Rainbow Pools, went into Yosemite Valley a couple of days, the park is about 5-10 mins from the entrance to Yosemite but we didn’t mind we enjoyed the drive into the valley and used it as…
Super nice I recommend
We love how clean it is, and the staff is friendly. The surrounding areas are woodsy and our dogs love the dog park!
Lots of private sites; takes tents to big RVs. No cement or asphalt-all dirt. “Resort” is a bit of a stretch, this is no fancy “glamping.” Silver Lake, hiking, trails (tons!), kayaking, boating, fishing, swimming with ducks and geese, upper lakes to find. 8000 ft elev. some permanent loops with…
This Campground has lots of potential. We expected a cleaner site for $40 a night. Really just a cleaner campground in general. Our site had lots of trash at it. Like Chewing Tobacco, old empanadas, cereal, etc. But it had some positives. Like the store, Lake and splash n dash. But it seems like…
Great campground, beautiful pines, with very nice camp hosts. Quiet hours start at 8pm which was fine with us. Park rangers are present and will ticket you if not compliant with placing items/trash in bear boxes, warnings given first though. Lower eagle bathrooms are so much nicer than the ones…
Campground was very nice and relaxing. Bathrooms could use some upgrades and store hours could be extended as well.
Overall it was nice just wish it had more things to do.

I would rate this much higher but there were 2 things I really didn't like. 1 -the ground had soft powdered dirt. 2- the bees were so bad eating or drinking anything was difficult Outside of those two it would have been perfect. The site was really big and fairly level, close to the…
Very active park. A little dusty and no wi-fi.
Not as close to lake as I thought. We weren't far from it though. Lots of different sites, but they vary dramatically. Some have lots of shade, others are out in the sun, some are large and open, others are compact. Just depends on what you are looking for.

Poor hookups, no sewer, roads not paved, dusty. Extreme fire hazard with only one way out
Was a bit crowded but was ok for our purposes of a stay over. Bathrooms were nice but not well maintained
Beautiful location. Nice heavily wooded sites. Close to trails. Camp host keeps the bathrooms sparkling
Full hook ups, good shade, good access to water, but pretty crowded. It’s not the place to go if you want to get out into the wild.
