TravelerImpressed with clean sites and tall pine trees. A very clean RV park and friendly staff. Call for reservations as its popular. Some lower sites had concrete pads for the provided table. Several seasonal private modular homes among the RVer. Secured large dog area with running creek within walking distance. A number of lower RV spaces within walking pathways to creek. Most were 30 amps and upper level had some 50 amps. Lots of back ends and pull throughs. Visitors must walk to the trash designated area fenced in with recycling bins. Only one bathroom building that housed laundry room. Shower stall in women’s area .50cent for 20 minutes and 2 toilet stalls that the door hits your knees a very weird old bathroom. We enjoyed the park and plan to return again.
GuideThis campground is just south of Lassen Volcanic National Park. It has two main sections, one for RVs and the other for tents. There are a small number of RV sites with full hookups and then a larger number of tent sites. The RV sites are fairly small, but felt separated enough to have some privacy. The tent sites are a bit more rustic.
The other slightly odd part is that most of the RV sites were filled with people who came and stayed for the entire summer, year after year. We were the only not long-term camper in the RV section.

GuideMore to the campground than just camping. Fishing in camp and nearby. Friendly staff. Had originally reserved a back in site, but emailed to hopefully get a pull through. Got a quick reply, and all taken care of. Campground is close to other fishing, the Subway Cave (ya gotta go there) Lassen National Park entrance and much more.
RangerDue to the remote location, be prepared to have everything you need before heading there.
Co Rd 502 is narrow but paved (Mail Rte Rd). 12 miles
Co Rd 506 Tuledad Rd is dirt, unimproved and has some washboard areas. Drive slow and you will be ready for the culvert crossing that have washed out a bit but at high speed can cause damage to your vehicle. 11 miles
Driving slow is needed for several reasons. 1. to avoid hitting poor road areas too fast and damaging your rig. 2. to spot and take pictures of wildlife 3. Basic respect to keep road from degrading further.
We did not come across another person while driving in or out or during our stay at the campground.
Tables in each site and fire rings, clean from trash. Vault toilets were also clean.
Reservoir was down but still had enough water for the birds to enjoy.
Excellent for night sky viewing.
We have a 26' toy hauler fifth wheel, it has high ground clearance and upgraded suspension so we would had no difficulty with the road, when we come back with it. This was just a recon trip.
Downside: this is surrounded by public land, Dodge Ranch so you can't explorer off the road. Makes the use limited to light weight boat, kayak or paddle board. If you like to just go to camp, sit and relax, the you can certainly do that.
Advantage: Evidence of lots of wildlife, we saw pronghorn antelope on the way, a couple of foxes and plenty of birds of prey. No people
TravelerStayed 2 nights, August 17 and 18 in B22, Loop B. This is a smaller campground that contains 2 Loops, A & B. We could see a bit of the lake from our site through the trees. No hookups although drinking water is offered as well as restrooms. Campgrounds are well maintained with bear lockers and rv sites ample. Road into the park as well as rv sites can accommodate big rigs. Generator hours are a bit odd although the only time we needed it was briefly in the morning to fix meals. Clouds drifted in about 2:00 p.m. each day with some sprinkles for about 1/2 hour keeping temps cool. Wonderful stay! Definitely would come back - picked out our preferred site already!
ScoutWe have been going here for years. The spaces are large, sunny and shaded with lovely trees and all within walking distance from the lake. Staff is friendly and helpful and the park is always clean. Love the fishing, swimming and hiking. Beautiful views of the mountains and lake any direction. Family and pet friendly at a reasonable cost.

And, a great place to stay while exploring the area is Little Bear RV park. This clean, quiet, and very family friendly campground offers a mixture of full and partial hookup sites, plus cabins. It’s right on the Feather river, with a refreshing swimming hole walking distance from the campground. Plumas Eureka state park offers a number of hikes that even little ones can manage. It also has great picnic areas on the creeks that run through the park. Within a 30 minute drive are a number of gorgeous alpine lakes. Gold Lake is especially beautiful and peaceful. I spent 5 nights here and while I love the more “famous” Sierra attractions, I have to say: I didn’t miss the crowds. Plumas is what Tahoe was like in the 1950’s. Highly recommended.
GuideWe live about 35 minutes away in Reno. We decided to practice camping with our new travel trailer at this campground. We have never camped even in a tent. The sites are paved. They are all back in sites. There's good room between sites. I think there's good privacy even though you can see that there are other campers around. There are tables, fire pits, flush toilets, and bear boxes. There's a shallow stream and access to it for the campsites along one side of the campground. There's a camp host by the entrance. It's hard to see the entrance to this campground because the sign is not close to the street. If you get to Frenchman Lake about 10 minutes away, you've gone too far. We've never had any cell signal with ATT at this campground. It's a very easy drive from Reno. We go there all spring and summer for quick getaways.
LegendThis place is magical, serene and if you are not put at peace then there is no hope. Out of all the camping we've done since we've been fulltiming this one is definitely at the top of the list.
The campground is very small: only 5 sites plus the extra site near the bridge. There is a creek and our spot (#4) was next to it. Perhaps it was nice because we had the entire place to ourselves for a whole day. Others showed up later, but surprisingly both large rigs picked sites that kept us all hidden from each other, which was very nice.
There was no fee when we were here. No garbage service so pack in and pack out. There are water spigots but water had not been turned on this early in the season.
The bathroom is set back a bit from the camp sites and looked as if someone was using it as target practice unfortunately. Fire pits and picnic tables are at all sites except the first long back-in spot right when you pull in near the bridge.
The sound of the creek downs out any sounds from neighbors. Sites are both partial sun and shade. The road in was about 3 miles of dirt road but surprisingly smooth and we made it fine in our 26’ Class C, and later much bigger rigs came in so the road is good for most sizes.
Nearby is the Bizz Johnson trail and runs from Susanville to Westwood. The trail was created on an old railroad line and is nice and wide and relatively flat.
Without WeBoost three is zero cell reception for AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile. With it we were able to watch a movie at night on our T-Mobile hotspot and be able to do some browsing on the Verizon cell phone. No bugs when we were here in April but we saw wasp traps all over (full of wasp carcasses) so I’d guess they are a problem at other times of the year.
