Accessible via Highway 101 in northern California, Mystic Forest Campground accommodates RVs up to 50 feet with full hookups and offers tent sites tucked into forested areas. The privately owned campground charges $33-40 per night and accepts reservations, making it a practical base for exploring the redwood region.
Despite its roadside location, RV sites sit far enough back from Highway 101 that traffic noise remains minimal. Sites lack defined pads and spread across grass areas with varying layouts—sites 15-21 position hookups on the left side, requiring longer cords for some setups. Lee D. notes the sites are "close together with little to no separation between them," though some benefit from tree coverage for partial privacy. Tent sites occupy more wooded sections that feel integrated into the forest environment.
The campground maintains clean restroom and shower facilities that reviewers consistently praise. "Toilets and showers are very clean," reports Thomas R.. A laundry facility operates by reservation with keys available from the office, which stays open 9 AM to 9 PM. The property includes an aging 18-hole mini golf course, horseshoe pits, and a small store stocking basic supplies. A half-mile hiking trail winds through the wooded sections of the property.
Cell service proves unreliable for most carriers, though the campground provides WiFi with intermittent connectivity. The location sits about a mile from Trees of Mystery and provides convenient access to other redwood attractions. Current owners Patrick and Maya, who took over in April 2023, live on-site with their children and receive frequent mentions for their helpful local knowledge and hospitality.
This campground works well for RV travelers seeking full hookups near redwood attractions and tent campers who don't mind close quarters in exchange for a forested setting and convenient location.
Description
