Marina Dunes RV Park

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Highway 101 runs directly behind Marina Dunes RV Park, creating constant traffic noise that some campers mask with sound machines at night. The RV-only facility sits near coastal dunes with cottages and yurts scattered throughout the property. Sites accommodate rigs up to 45 feet, though maneuvering larger units into certain spots requires careful navigation.

Full hookups provide electric, water, and sewer connections, with reviewers noting that utility placement can feel awkward depending on the site. Joshua R. found "hookups were easy access, level spot" during his shakedown trip. The park maintains clean restrooms and shower facilities, plus laundry services for extended stays. WiFi reaches throughout the campground, and the on-site store stocks basics when open - though it closes early on Saturdays and remains closed Sundays.

Beach access requires a quarter-mile walk through soft sand dunes, with no paved pathway. The trek takes about five minutes and leads to a relatively uncrowded stretch of coast. Dogs are permitted on the nearby beach areas. Some campers find the sand walk challenging, while others appreciate the dune landscape itself. Street parking along the campground perimeter is available except between 1am and 6am.

Staff accommodates after-hours arrivals and offers helpful guidance about site selection. Reservations are recommended, with spot selection available for an additional fee. The facility operates as a staging point for coastal exploration rather than a destination campground. For additional coastal camping options, check out campsites near Marina or nearby alternatives like Moss Landing KOA Express.

Marina Dunes works best for RV travelers prioritizing beach proximity over quiet surroundings, particularly those comfortable with highway noise and sandy beach approaches.

Many mentioned excellent beach access and helpful staff as key strengths. However, significant freeway noise and high pricing were common concerns, with smaller sites challenging for larger RVs.

Quiet stay!

Hookups were easy access, level spot, beach is close by but it is a walk through the sand dunes which in itself was nice. We were on a shakedown run with our new to us van conversion and every went perfect! Staff is VERY helpful and the whole site is clean! Downside is as others stated- freeway traffic can be a bit noisy at times but definitely not a show stopper as the facilities will take your mind off of it!

Nice super clean close to the PCH walking distance from a amazing beach. Nice facility as well. No views but I would stay again. Super safe feeling as well.

Good amenities and prime albeit noisy location

The campsite is RV only with a few cottages and yurts. It's right by the dunes and with very quick access to the beach. You can park on the road along the campground except between 1am and 6am, convenient if you want to enjoy the beach one last time. Route 1 is just behind and extremely noisy.

It’ll work..

The campsites specifically are nice, but the campground was very disappointing. Lots of freeway noise, amenities were disappointing (fitness center was only open until 9-5?), dog park was closed, beach requires a brutal walk through soft sand. It’ll work as a landing point for a couple nights, but don’t plan on this being a nice campground to enjoy your vacation at.

Great location, high price!

Nice rv park by the beach. Bathrooms and showers are great. Downside is the store is closed on Sundays. Also, $190 a night plus $20 to choose your spot is wild. The location of the electrical/water is awkward.

Marina Dunes RV Park

It is $160 to stay there. I have a camper van and I didn’t need all the hook up. There is a Best Western right next to this place were we ended up getting a room instead as that was less expensive. We did arrive there with no reservation and after hours. There was a worker ready to give us a spot near the bathroom if we wanted it so that was nice to be able to arrive unannounced. He was the one who suggested to stay in a hotel. So we did. The beach was like a 5 minute walk. That was nice. Has laundry place. Dogs allowed on the beach near by.

Secret beach

Nice and clean campground. Room for any size rig. The store closed at noon on Saturday and wasn’t open Sunday, so don’t forget anything. Although you are not far from stores (Walmart etc). But the real reason to camp here is the beach. About a 5 min trek through sand and dunes and you’ll find yourself at a beach not many people frequent. On Friday we were the only ones for as far as I could see. No exaggeration. Saturday there were maybe 30 people. I could be wrong, but I think this area used to be fort ord which closed in the late 90’s. That might be a factor in why not many people from the Bay Area have never heard of marina dunes 🤷🏻

More HWY 101 than beach

Nice clean park, with a lot of ways to stay, but it's a good half mile to the water. Staff was fantastic, the RV slots were level and with full hookups, it was just a little too far from ocean activities and too close to HWY 101.

Small spots

This place is okay it's just small and loud. It's hard to get bigger Rv's into spots also. We have a 35' 5th wheel and there are only some spots that will fit it. It looks like motorhomes fit in a lot of these spots okay. Maybe it was easier to get in for them? If you like to walk There is a path that will take you to the ocean. It's about a quarter of a mile walk in sand. There is no sidewalk. It is also very loud her with the freeway right behind you. It didn't bother us in the day. At night I had a sound machine so it didn't bother us. Our neighbors ended up leaving after a day because of the noise.
