Monterey Pines RV Park - Military

Military personnel stationed at or visiting Monterey can access this RV park positioned directly adjacent to the Monterey Regional Airport and a golf course. The facility restricts access to active duty, retired military, and Department of Defense civilians with valid identification.

Aircraft noise punctuates the camping experience here, with planes warming up within sight of RV sites and taking off overhead. The last flights typically end around 9:00 PM according to campers. Recent improvements converted the parking spots from dirt to concrete surfaces, though site leveling remains an ongoing challenge. Several reviewers mention needing significant blocks to level their rigs, with some sites requiring the front to be jacked up considerably higher than usual.

The campground splits its hookup configuration between sites. Half the sites provide water and electric connections only, while the other half include full sewer hookups. All utilities connect at the front of each site rather than the typical side placement. The centrally located bathhouse and shower facilities receive consistent praise for cleanliness, and free laundry facilities are available on-site.

Jose J. notes the location as "one of the more affordable courses to play in the area" for golfers. Downtown Monterey sits just five minutes away by vehicle. For additional military camping options, see campgrounds around Monterey.

Military-only campground near Monterey with clean facilities and free laundry that many visitors appreciated. Common feedback included leveling challenges at some sites and airport noise, though recent improvements like cement pads have addressed some concerns.

Beautiful RV Park and golf course

Campground is for active duty, retired military and DoD Civilians. Pretty quiet with the exception of the Monterey Regional Airport next to it and even then it wasn’t very noticeable. The golf course next to it is beautiful so bring your sticks or rent them from the clubhouse. One of the more affordable courses to play in the area. Our site was level left to right but we did have to jack the front of the trailer up higher than usual. Clean restrooms and bath house. FREE LAUNDRY FACILITIES TOO. Definitely want to go back but for a longer stay.

Golf and gulfstreams

Fly your private jet here to golf or drive your RV. Golf course is off limits to campers (unless you're a golfer). The coast 4 miles away is amazing.

Excellent RV park

Sits next to a beautiful golf course, recently revamped parking spots, now cement vs. dirt. Staff is very polite and the camp host will go out of her way to make your stay a wonderful one. Yes this park sits in the approach to the airport, but the last flights are around 9:00 pm and this is a small airport not JFK. Highly recommended. We make this a regular visit to escape the heat of Central Valley

Gets the job done

Campground is military/DOD/veterans only. Great location near Monterey. Full hookup and fully paved. Restrooms were fairly clean. Great for a stopover or if you’re visiting Monterey.

Clean and Serene

This RV Park is the best kept secret vacation spot on the Monterey Peninsula. This is the most beautiful and comfortable RV park of all other RV parks in a 50 mile radius, only you’ll need a valid military or veteran ID to stay.

Military campground in Monterey

This is a military only campground. It is located on a public-accessible military-run golf course right on top of the regional airport. I mean, right on top of. The airplanes will warm up within site of my RV and take off over top of us. It was very loud. But tolerable. We stayed in two sites while we were here. Site 1 on the very eastern end - it was narrow and not very level (tail up). Site 14 was the handicap accessible site, and accordingly was wide and level. Half of the sites had water and electric but no sewer. The other half includes sewer. The bathroom and showers were centrally located and well-kept. Laundry was reliable and reasonably priced. Downtown Monterey was a short drive or bike ride away. I would stay here again but wouldn't recommend.

Nice location, nice weather

Sites need renovation and they claim it is coming. Of course they have said that for the last 3 years. Their answer to uneven sites is to give you pieces of wood to try and level. Good luck, I saw some raised up 2-3 feet. Full hook-ups, although for some strange reason they are at front of site. Military only. Just 5 min to Monterey wharf.

Decent sites, lots of lurkers

Camp site was fine for the price and had free showers. our only complaint was at night, there were tons of people walking around who weren't staying there.

How does Monterey Pines RV Campground compare to other RV parks near Monterey?

Monterey Pines RV Campground stands out as one of the more affordable options in the area while offering full hookups and paved sites. Its military-only access policy (open to active duty, retired military, and DOD civilians) means it's typically less crowded than public RV parks in the region. The campground's location provides good access to Monterey attractions while avoiding the premium prices of coastal RV parks. While some commercial parks might offer more amenities or ocean views, Monterey Pines provides a good value alternative with basic but well-maintained facilities. Visitors appreciate the full hookups, paved sites, and clean facilities. The campground's proximity to Monterey is considered a major plus. Some note that sites can be uneven, requiring leveling blocks. The location next to the regional airport means some noise from aircraft, particularly during daytime hours, though flights typically end around 9 PM. The adjacent golf course adds to the scenic setting, and the staff and camp host are praised for their helpfulness and politeness.

Are there photos available of Monterey Pines RV Campground?

Photos of Monterey Pines RV Campground are available through official military recreation websites and platforms that feature military campgrounds.
