Booked at the last minute. The campground was okay. We were lucky there was no one on either side of us. The little stream is great for cooling off. Bathrooms stunk! Great area for exploring. Great views close by. Several geocaches locally. Plus a short distance to town.
Not much to the campground but your really not there for the campground. We went in January 2018. The weather was great. Lots to see and explorer. Pack well it gets cold at night!! The resort close by allows the campground campers to use their pool and it’s heated!
I loved this place. Campsites are secluded. Lots of areas for biking. Beware of the raccoons. They came out as soon as the lights went out. They were neat to watch. Lots and lots of quail. We even saw some coyotes. Loved hiking on the trails. There is a store close by.
We went for Thanksgiving. It rained and rained. Trees were coming down left and right. We were evacuated due to the weather. Bathrooms were nice. Sites were big. It was gloomy and cold. There is some hiking areas. Only one way down to the ocean down a one lane road that is very busy and crowded and not close to town.
Not much to the site. It was very hot and a distance to the lake. Not to mention the rangers were very grumpy.
We pulled in late. However, we explored the next day. The Redwoods were neat. The little river close by helped keep us cool. Not to far from town. And lots of big foot shops around.
The sites are narrow. The water was really low down. No beach. It was really hot! Not much around. Plus will we were there at least two trees came down. Thank goodness they did not land on our tent! There are a lot of Geocaches though.
We had a bigger family tent and it just barley fit. It was nice that it was close to the water. Bathrooms were okay. This trip was planned for quading at pismo beach and we just needed to came some were close.
It was a nice little area. The sites were small and it was a hike to the water.
It was a nice campsite. We came down to the area to see a soccer game. Decided to camp instead of a hotel. It was roomy and not to far from the water. The beach was great and it’s close to a bike trail.
Nice camp area. Little distance to the beach although the beach area was small. Weather was nice.
I loved the ferns. It felt like a nice jungle. It close to the beach although the beach is a little small. Dogs were allowed. We had a little stream by our site which was nice. Not to far from town.
Camp here twice. Once right on the sand. It was easy with the kids. It can be very windy as your close to the water. Nice area for the kids to ride bikes. Showers are available. Camp host were friendly. Close to town and hiking areas.
Been here twice. Don’t get me wrong… this is a nice area. There really is not much to the campground. Not a lot of area for bike riding or hiking. The lake is nice but can be very choppy. It also can be very crowded. It tends to be a little on the cooler side. You can rent kayaks, and other items. Stores are close by.
We have been here once. It was early June. The weather rained, hailed and snowed. We were determined to stick it out but it was not the funniest camping trip. The water area is nice but it is a distance from most campsites. Campsites are a little close in some areas.
We live close by so going to camp in Sly Park, seems weird. However, I have had at least two kids camping trips here. Sly Park lake is great! We love kayaking on it, especially to the waterfall. It has vault toilets and they are pretty clean. I like that Chimney is close to the water however, this location really does not have a beach. It can be quite busy at times as it is also a day use area.
We have come here many times. It’s a neat little area. The kids can ride their bikes, play in the park, they have a volley ball net and have had outdoor movies. The lake is great, we have even rented boats and gone out. The kids loved the fishing pond. Wind can be strong at times. Deer do like to come through. I don’t recommend the middle of summer as it can be really hot.
We went at the end of September. It is very dry, the Lake New Malones was down quite a bit. We swam in the lake the water was great. However, we did not bother with the Kayaks. It’s really not a kayak lake more of a speed boat lake. The campground was good. We were in Acorn 065. The site was great, roomy and in a corner, I have to say it was one of the nicer ones. We had vault toilets close by but there was also flush toilets and showers not to far away. Not a lot of shade, I would not recommend going in the hotter months. The campground is easy to get to. No firewood for sale on site. You have to go to one of the local stores. Plan ahead if arriving late. When we came there was a PSPS so we were told on the second day that wood fires or charcoal fires would be allowed that day due to wind. Lucky their was a Walmart not too far away and we were able to grab a gas grill. :)
