Within Los Padres National Forest, Lions Canyon operates as a US Forest Service campground that draws both campers and hikers to its creek-side setting. The small loop of sites sits alongside a running creek, though campers must bring their own water as no spigots are available on-site.

Access requires navigating a remote road that can present challenges depending on recent weather conditions. The primitive campground attracts diverse users, including hunters during certain seasons who may use the area as a staging ground. Multiple hiking trails branch out from the campground, and the creek provides a cooling element during warmer months. For additional options, see camping areas outside Ojai.

Beautiful

Pretty far in from the main road, very remote. The road to get down can be difficult depending on what the weather has been like. A creek runs along one side of the loop, which is nice. Small number of sites. Be aware that hunting is allowed in the area during certain times of year, when we were there, there was a large group of hunters using the area as a parking lot. No water spigots, bring your own. Overall pretty nice.
