Hogback Creekside Camp

Accessed directly off Hogback Road, this free BLM dispersed site sits close enough to the road that passing traffic and arriving vehicles are visible from camp. No trees provide shade, just low brush, and the site is open to the sky with clear sightlines toward the back face of Mount Whitney. Cell service is available. Pets are welcome, campfires are permitted, and the area is big-rig accessible. Campers exploring places to camp near Lone Pine will find nearby dispersed options like Boot Arch Camp a short distance southeast. Basic and exposed, it works best as a quick overnight stop.

Nice spot by a swift running creek.

This place was pretty easy to find, right off Hogback road. There are a couple of sites here, we picked the first one. After an hour or so two vans showed up and parked on the other side of the creek. This site is so close to the road, we could see them make the turn off Hogback road. No trees, just bushes. It's okay. Pretty basic. Great views of the backside of Mount Whitney.
