Gorgeous, quiet

Found a beautiful spot down. Hard and flat Road right by a little stream where we could park our 22-ft van with a bike trailer. Our dog could run around free. We enjoyed a quiet evening. Even though it's thickly wooded, we seem to have decent starlink service.

Hardin Flat Road dispersed camping is strategically located just outside the western entrance of Yosemite National Park. This camping area sits along Hardin Flat Road, which runs parallel to Highway 120 (also known as Big Oak Flat Road) in the Stanislaus National Forest. Its proximity to Yosemite makes it an excellent alternative for travelers who couldn't secure reservations within the park. The dispersed camping spots are scattered throughout the forested area, providing a peaceful retreat while maintaining convenient access to one of America's most popular national parks.

What are the rules and regulations for camping at Hardin Flat Campground?

Camping at Hardin Flat follows standard US Forest Service dispersed camping regulations. Campers must practice Leave No Trace principles and pack out all trash. Stays are typically limited to 14 days within a 30-day period. Campfires may require permits depending on seasonal fire restrictions, and fires must only be built in safe locations away from vegetation. No reservations are accepted as this is a first-come, first-served dispersed camping area. Always check current regulations with the Stanislaus National Forest office before your trip, as rules may change seasonally, particularly regarding fire restrictions.

What amenities are available at Hardin Flat Road dispersed camping areas?

Hardin Flat Road dispersed camping is primitive with no developed amenities. There are no restrooms, potable water, garbage services, or designated fire rings. Campers need to be self-sufficient, bringing their own water supply and packing out all waste. The appeal of this area lies in its quiet, undeveloped nature and proximity to Yosemite National Park. Many campers appreciate the peaceful setting and natural surroundings while still being just a short drive from the park entrance. For those seeking basic services, nearby communities offer supplies and facilities.
