Costco — Eureka

Right off US-101 in Eureka, this Costco parking lot functions as a no-frills overnight stop for road trippers moving through California's North Coast. Permission is required before parking, and reviewers note that staff have been accommodating when asked in advance. The northeast corner of the lot is the designated area for overnight vehicles. Nearby options like Shoreline RV Park and Samoa Boat Ramp County Park offer more developed camping for those who want hookups or a waterfront setting.

Noise is the most consistent factor reviewers flag. Delivery trucks run through the lot in the early morning hours, and activity picks up around 6 a.m. A littered side street borders the property, and at least one reviewer noted a close encounter with passersby overnight. Earplugs are worth packing. That said, the lot has cell service and the store itself provides access to supplies before closing.

The location has practical advantages beyond the parking. The Costco gas station is on-site, a Planet Fitness is nearby, and "quick access to a waterfront walk" is one perk noted by John F. Restaurants are within a short walk, and a dog park is reachable on foot. If you need a low-cost overnight stop between destinations on the 101 corridor, this lot covers the basics.

Convenient highway location with manager permission available for overnight parking. Noise from delivery trucks and early morning activity are common concerns, though the spot offers decent safety and access to nearby amenities.

Overnight only

We stopped in the store and got manager permission. Granted with the request to leave before the store opens at 9a in the morning. Understood as the parking lot fills to the brim during the day.

There was another rig behind us. .....And a tent in the grass with a homeless couple. They didn't bother us. Just unsettling and sad.

Costco

Asked permission from Costco's manager for overnight parking. You can park at any parking on north side adjacent to the FedEx building. Del Norte pier is just around the corner for fishing and crabbing. Quite night, parking light were turned off at 2330 hrs.

It’s a place

No problems. What you’d expect from a Costco parking lot. Set up in NE corner of the lot. Bonus is you can get gas and planet fitness is nearby. All in all a decent spot

Ok stay, mostly quiet

Costco closes at 6 on Sundays. Got manager permission at 4:30 to park overnight. Parked at 8:30 to turn in for the night. Was mostly quiet until 5:30 when I heard 2 vagrants talking and passing by, one of them seemed close to the car, but left. Windows were covered, so couldn’t see outside. Starts getting noisy around 6, left after 7. Next to the parking lot is a littered side street.

Delivery trucks!

Fine and safe spot in a pinch, but bring your ear plugs. The constant parade of delivery trucks made this not ideal

Great location!

this Costco is right off the 101 so very convenient. I inquired with Costco staff and they informed me it was OK to stay as long as I set up in the north east corner of the parking lot five minute walk to restaurants and a 10 minute walk to a very large dog park. Quick access to a waterfront walk as well.
