Homeless in bathrooms.

I’ve been coming here for 30 years. It’s been my favorite place to camp until the last year or two. If they don’t do something simple like put a combination lock on the bathroom doors I will be looking for another place. I have mentioned the homeless problem in the showers before. I was told there is nothing they can do about it. This time there was feces in the showers along with other discussing things left behind.

Very organized

You’re never too far from the bathroom and it’s all just very clean. My family has gone three times now and we always have an amazing time.

Very clean but road noise

This campsite is very clean with good toilets and has incredible views. However it is next to the freeway with loud traffic noise.

Impressive drive through

Drove through this campground when staying at another. Next time, we’ll stay here. Well spaced sites and the cleanest bathhouse I’ve ever come across!

Beautiful camping area with tons of amenities

Amazing park, the staff were extremely friendly and the grounds were very clean. Bathrooms were very clean snd always stocked. Showers are a dollar, but you get a lot longer than you would expect.

They do charge extra for dogs, $3.50/day/dog, but was well worth it as they have beautiful large dog parks a mile behind the campsite.

There is also a large children's park, sports fields, and a botanical garden (which does cost extra).

Morrow bay beaches are 10-15 minutes away. Sylvester's burgers is also only 15 minutes away, which is well worth the drive.

18 Primitive that can easily fit trailers/RVs and they have full hookup sites as well.

Only downside is you are right next to highway 1, so it's a little noisy, but not horrible.

Doordash will also deliver here!

Nice two night stay

I’m a newbie camper but really enjoyed this campground. Stayed in Chumash. Sites were big enough and private enough. Nice dog park. Nice couple of hikes in the park. Very quiet. Would definitely stay again.

Great central location

We live this park! It is not far from Morro Bay and worth the trip to travel even further and see the elephant seals in San Simeon. At the park, there is a play structure, a botanical garden, golf course next door and a few nice hikes that are great for kids. We stay in Romauldo loop when we go and it is always quiet and peaceful.

Very simple but worthwhile

We have gone twice in the last couple months to this campground. The first time was because it was the last spot available anywhere in slo county and we wanted to take our 2 young kids camping. We enjoyed the fact that there was a park a short walk from the campground and a nice hike down the road past the park. There is also a dog park, golf course and botanical garden within walking distance. The only con is that you can hear the highway from the campground but it’s honestly not horrible. We stayed 4th of July weekend the first time and the golf course set off a big booming firework both nights at 11 pm on the dot which was pretty annoying. The 2 times we have gone people are very respectful of the quiet times. The showers were above my expectations and the bathrooms were very clean. I believe it’s $3 for 5 minutes in the shower. The water pressure was strong and the water was HOT. The bishop loop is pretty exposed during the day but the hook up loops have a ton of shade. My family will probably go back and it’s only about 25 minutes from our house.

Expensive and compact

This campground has 3 loops: Bishop (no hookups), Chumash (FHU), and Romauldo (FHU).

We stayed in Bishop loop, which is basically a park with some gravel strips for tents or RVs and some grass with a picnic table and fire pit in between.  It is really close to the freeway and you can hear cars all day and all night.  You are really close to your neighbor.  There are no hookups here, but there are a few threaded water spigots throughout the loop. The cost to stay here per night is $25 to $36, depending on weekday/weekend/holiday.

Chumash and Romauldo are full hookup sites (20 and 30 amp only), and are much more expensive ($40-50 depending on weekday/weekend/holiday).  These sites have much more space and privacy in between the sites.

Neither the primitive loop nor the FHU loops is worth the high cost of the campground, in our opinion.  It's a good place to explore other nearby places, but at Bishop anyway, it felt like staying in a day use park and not a campground.  Sites not very level - our blocks were not enough to level out our RV.

There are clean flush toilets and coin operated showers.  Not sure how much the showers are. See photo.  It only said to deposit $1 so I'm not sure if it's unlimited time for just $1? There are trash dumpsters and segregated recycling bins.

There is a $3.50 per pet per night fee, though it didn't come up while I was making reservations and the attendant checking us in didn't mention it. I only happened to see the fee when looking at the info board on our last day.

According to the info board there is also a $13 fee for second vehicles.

Unlike other campgrounds in California we've stayed in recently, visitors seem to be allowed here.  Other campers had people visiting and there were people coming and going all day long.

There is no RV dump at this campground.  Sneaking into one of the full hookup sites to dump your tanks before you leave is one suggestion though.

Good cell service here.

If we ever found ourselves having to stay here again, I would choose site 11 in Bishop loop.  Though very close to #12, site #11 is in the corner and offers the most privacy and view of the grassy hill - - the most campground-like feel of this loop.

Basic rec area

As a SLO native, this colors my interest in this park. Highlight coming from a local are the different events held here throughout the year such as the Renaissance Fair. Makes for a nice midway stop between San Luis and Morro Bay for kids to stretch their legs or to have a picnic lunch

Works for location

One of our favorites for being close to SLO. Clean, convenient, some sites are really nice and spacious.

Nothing worth seeing here

Aside from the hot showers and flushing toilets, this isn’t anything more than a hybrid RV park and campground. The sites are often booked during the summer, but the weather and many things to do in the area make it worth the stay.

Great if you are in a pinch

So, let’s say that you planned on going camping along CA Central Coast. But somehow your reservations at a more prominent campsite got botched. Of course, without assigning blame to anyone who was responsible for the reservations. Well then, EL Chorro Regional Park might be your saving grace.

Located off Highway 1 between Moro Bay and San Luis Obispo, this typically overlooked campsite has not much there but still within arms (long arms) reach of many popular destinations.

Near San Luis Obispo

Nice camp site. Near San Luis Obispo & Pismo Beach. When we stayed here it was for the Renaissance Faire (which has moved to San Luis Obispo proper). There were tons of loud people. We definitely need to return to give this an honest review. It can't be as bad as I'm remembering it.

Great Campground Close to SLO

This is a great campground close to San Luis Obispo. It is great for tent or RV camping and is located near a park, garden, and golf course. It is a short drive to San Luis Obispo or Morro Bay where you can hike, shop, relax on the beach, and eat great food.
