National Forest

Six Rivers National Forest

Oak Bottom Campground is located on a gently sloping hillside in a mixed Douglas fir and hardwood forest. It offers a peaceful environment, free from road noise and other distractions. Located near the California Salmon River, the campground is popular with whitewater enthusiasts in the spring. Many challenging rapids ranging from class 3 to 5 are a short distance away. Swimming is also popular in the summer and numerous river accesses are a short drive or walk from the campground. In the fall salmon and steelhead fishing in the Klamath River are within a 15 minute drive. The small town of Somes Bar is 2.5 miles from the campground where propane, groceries, post office and tackle are available at the store. This is not the Oak Bottom CG at Whiskeytown Reservoir.

Two Thumbs Up!!! 👍👍

Such a great place to camp! Our group took up 3 Large campsites. One was right on the shoreline and the second and third were above the shoreline site which worked perfectly for us and the restroom was just a short walk up the path. They have a camp store, a beach area with a snack bar, outdoor, cold showers and paid indoor hot showers too! All of the staff were very helpful and knowledgeable about their respective areas of work! We rented a Tritoon at the marina and were able to pull it right up to our campsite! Bathrooms were clean and well lit, always stocked with tp and garbages were emptied regularly. This was a great place to camp and we'll be back to visit soon!

Cargo wagons near restrooms.

Some "Cop" with a GPS tower scanning phones. Store closed 20 minutes early and ridiculous prices. The Rv area is just an open parking lot. You have to carry all your stuff a great distance from car to Campsite. The water was so low I was in thigh deep mud and almost lost my shoe when I went for a swim. Dogs gotta be on leash and "Cop" quick to remind you. Gorgeous view of the snow covered mountains. I ate S'mores and had the biggest campfire pit. Space#C2, however... They don't let you go down to waters edge if you not get shoreline. Shoreline is 100 plus yards to parking lot for gear. They have cargo wagons near restroom.
