Belle Campground — Joshua Tree National Park

With 18 first-come, first-served sites and no water available, Belle Campground operates seasonally from September through June within Joshua Tree National Park. The campground sits among distinctive rock formations that provide both visual interest and climbing opportunities right from individual sites. Access requires navigating a section of damaged road near the entrance, though conditions improve deeper into the campground where most sites are located.

Each site includes a fire pit, barbecue grill, and picnic table, with pit toilets and trash service provided throughout the campground. The uneven terrain means level sites are limited, which can pose challenges for larger RVs. "Love the rock formations within the campground and proximity to hiking from the campground," notes Jennifer H.. Skull Rock and various hiking trails begin directly from the campground area.

The central location within the park provides access to destinations throughout Joshua Tree, though campers must bring their own water for the duration of their stay. Sites fill quickly on weekends, and the no-pets policy applies to all overnight stays. For additional camping options in the region, visitors can explore campsites near Joshua Tree National Park.

Campers regularly cited the stunning rock formations and central park location as major highlights. Several reviews noted concerns about unlevel sites and poorly maintained facilities, particularly restrooms.

Amazing location

Really only one spot that our larger RV (35 foot) would fit. Close to other campers and we run our generator some so we decided not to be those people! It is a great spot right in the middle of the park

Nice location in the park

Love the rock formations within the campground and proximity to hiking from the campground. Pit toilets, garbage and recycling available. Fire pits, bbq’s and picnic tables at every site. Roads were passable - there’s a chunk of the road missing near the entrance but it gets a lot better back by the sites.

Just Ok

Probably my biggest complaint is there aren't any level campsites and the restrooms the pit toilets are pretty nasty and not cleaned over a period of 3 days.

Camping in the heart of Joshua Tree

First come first served campgrounds, no reservations and only 18 sites. Amazing rocks, night skies, and climbing to do all around. This campground offers much of the same opportunities as other campgrounds (proximity to hiking, wonderful features, and close drive to farther destinations)

pit toilets and no water available.
