Within Humboldt Redwoods State Park, Hamilton Barn Environmental Camp provides group camping on open terrain managed by California State Parks. The facility accommodates RVs up to 24 feet and requires advance reservations. Basic amenities include restrooms, picnic tables, and designated fire areas.
The camp operates under a no-pets policy and sits near other park facilities including Albee Creek Campground — Humboldt Redwoods State Park less than a mile east. At $20 per night, Hamilton Barn serves educational groups and organized camping programs within the park's towering redwood groves.
Description
Open May to September, Humboldt Redwood’s environmental camps offer a quiet and private alternative to the larger campgrounds. Complete with picnic tables, fire rings, pit toilets, and untreated water. The parking areas are 50-200 yards from the sites. These camps are along the Avenue of the Giants on Mattole Road. Early reservations are recommended and please note that pets are never allowed at environmental camps.

Maximum allowable stay is thirty (30) nights per calendar year per park, and no more than fifteen (15) of those nights permitted during the summer season.
There is no electricity and no lights at Williams Grove. Please plan accordingly.
Occupancy by the same persons, equipment, or vehicle(s) is limited as follows:
1. Individual campsites - Maximum allowable stay is thirty (30) nights per calendar year per park, with no more than seven (7) of these nights permitted during the summer season (May 1 through September 30), and no more than fifteen (15) consecutive nights the rest of the year. After maximum allowable consecutive use has been reached no person or equipment may re-enter the same park to use any camping facilities until the expiration of at least two nights (48 hours).
2. Group and Environmental campsites - Maximum allowable stay is fourteen (14) nights per calendar year per park, with no more than seven (7) nights of consecutive use per visit. After maximum allowable consecutive use has been reached no person or equipment may re-enter the same park to use any camping facilities until the expiration of at least two nights (48 hours).
3. Hike and Bike campsites - Maximum allowable stay is seven (7) nights per calendar year per park, with no more than two (2) nights of consecutive use per visit. After maximum allowable consecutive use has been reached no person or equipment may re-enter the same park to use any camping facilities until the expiration of at least two nights (48 hours).
4. Cabins - Maximum allowable stay is fifteen (15) nights per calendar year, with no more than seven (7) consecutive nights permitted during the summer season (May 1 through September 30). After maximum allowable consecutive use has been reached no person or equipment may re-enter the park to use any camping facilities until the expiration of at least two nights (48 hours).
