Water activities take center stage at Aspen Group Campground, positioned along Stampede Reservoir in the Sierra Nevada. This Forest Service facility operates from late May through mid-October, accommodating RVs up to 22 feet with standard amenities including vault toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings. The drive-in access makes it straightforward to reach, though the seasonal closure reflects the area's mountain elevation and weather patterns.
Campers can reserve sites in advance, and pets are welcome throughout the campground. The proximity to Pass Creek Campground provides additional options for groups needing multiple sites. Those exploring the broader region will find campgrounds around Sierra City within a reasonable drive for extended stays.
