Wooded With View of Lake

This site was difficult to find. It is listed on the highway with a sign but on GPS it wasn't listed. The proper address is 4101 US-70, Kirby, AR 71950.

You book through recreation.gov but it is actually listed under Self Creek campgrounds. When booking just lok for sites listed on LOOP JW.

This is a good site for tents, campervans, and smaller rvs. There are sites for larger rvs but not many. It may be difficult to find a level spot if you're in a larger vehicle. There is only one site directly on the water. The remainder are on the wooded hill but still have a beautiful view of the lake.

The bathhouse has flush toilets and showers but is very old. They maintain it well and it is cleaned regularly. The toilets are perfectly fine but the showers are just old and a bit icky. I would suggest for showers going to the Daisy State Park. They have newer and nicer showers.

Unable to Locate

The GPS coordinates are wrong for this one but I couldn't locate the correct site. Tookus down a gravel road that wasn't bad until it turned to mud.

Some people love it but I don’t see it

I thought it was okay. The campground is in a pretty location and most sites have a nice lake view but sites are close together and extremely hard if not nearly impossible to level IF you don’t have self levelers which I don’t. The sites are narrow and on a slope so your picnic table is down a steep rocky slope. What does make me think this is a nice family campground is all the multigenerational families camping here making memories. I however as a solo camper am reviewing the campground itself. There are some tent sites down at the very end of the loop closest to the lake. Campground is a one way loop.

Reservation only, shaded nice waterfront sites

I stopped here to enjoy the waters which had recently been on the rise. The campsite was very nice, well shaded and with lots of spaces. I opted for a site on the peninsula portion that had water views but still was safe from the rise.

The site had all the standard amenities but also had power and water which is a huge bonus at a campsite! My small van easily fit however larger rigs were pulled into several of the upper sites with no issue. There is a boat ramp nearby so many use this as a hub for their fishing camps.

It was quiet and serene.

Restrooms were near the entrance and included showers.
