Tall ponderosa pines shade much of Woody Mountain, a privately managed RV park and campground on the outskirts of Flagstaff, Arizona. Sites vary considerably in size, shape, and fit, so rigs on the larger end may find maneuvering tight, particularly at capacity. The internal roads are confusing enough that one reviewer, Cyndie W., advises arriving with daylight and walking the route to your site before attempting to drive it.
Noise is a consistent theme across reviews. Railroad tracks run near the property, and trains pass through at night with some frequency. Road noise from Route 66 also carries into the campground. Neither source is constant, and several campers report they found the trains tolerable as background sound, but light sleepers should come prepared. Construction activity has also been noted during recent stays, with rock and sand trucks generating dust during afternoon and morning hours while a new section was being built.
The amenities cover the basics: full hookups with electric, water, and sewer, plus showers, a dump station, laundry, and WiFi that works most of the time on a pay-per-use basis. An on-site store and restaurant serves breakfast and lunch, though hours vary by day. Cell coverage runs to two or three bars on Verizon and stronger on AT&T. No campfires are allowed. There is a small fenced dog park on the property, and a hiking trail runs within the campground itself.
Pricing runs higher than many comparable sites in the region, with some stays coming in around $60 per night after taxes, and certain site-selection features carry additional charges. The no-refund policy after the day of arrival is worth noting before booking. Reservations are available and recommended, since the campground frequently reaches capacity. Campers interested in campgrounds near Flagstaff will find options at nearby properties including Kit Carson RV Park to the east and Woody Mountain Campground & RV Park to the north.
Woody Mountain makes the most sense for RV travelers who need full hookups and a reliable base for exploring Flagstaff, and who can tolerate some noise and a denser site layout in exchange for that convenience.
