Stargazing draws campers to Old Route 64, a dispersed camping area set within Kaibab National Forest on the south side of the Grand Canyon. The road degrades as you drive further in, so arriving in daylight makes finding a usable spot considerably easier. Campfires are allowed, and cell service is available. Spots fill from the front, leaving quieter options deeper along the route. Kaibab NF Dispersed off Old AZ 64 is a nearby alternative worth considering.
