The road degrades as you drive further in, so arriving in daylight makes finding a usable spot considerably easier. Campfires are allowed, and cell service is available. Spots fill from the front, leaving quieter options deeper along the route. Kaibab NF Dispersed off Old AZ 64 is a nearby alternative worth considering.

Late arrival, found a spot

Late arrival after dark but had several options nearby so felt okay taking the chance on finding a spot in the dark. The first few spots were occupied and the road got progressively worse. We found a spot and enjoyed the star filled night sky and an easy departure to the Grand Canyon after coffee and breakfast the next morning.

Nice secluded spot.

This road was nice and secluded, I don’t think anyone else was even here when we went, Just some locals picking wild berries? Very close to Grand Canyon Only downside was our first spot we picked some one had decided to break some glass wine bottles in the fire pit, so we had to go find a second spot. But like I said it was empty so it was easy to do.
