Within Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, State Line Spot provides free dispersed camping along the Utah-Arizona border. This National Park Service site sits about a mile off the highway via a sandy road that crosses two cattle grates, with the camping area located just before the second grate.
The road to camp handles RVs and trailers up to 30 feet, though Caryn H. notes "the spot was a bit tight to navigate" for larger rigs. Most campers find one primary spot near the cattle grate, with additional areas further up the road requiring higher clearance. The sandy surface means rain can create washout conditions, and leveling blocks help on the uneven ground.
Campers report expansive views across the desert landscape, with sunrise particularly noteworthy. Wind exposure is significant with no natural shelter or shade. The area accommodates campfires and allows pets to roam freely. Cell service varies by carrier, with some reporting decent Verizon coverage. Traffic noise from the highway occasionally reaches the site, though most find it minimal.
The location works well as a base for exploring campgrounds near Big Water or accessing Lake Powell, just 15 minutes from Page, Arizona. Pack in all supplies since no services exist on-site.
Description
