forest road 171 disperse camping

Forest Road 171 in Coconino National Forest is a fantastic spot for dispersed camping, especially if you love wide-open spaces. We arrived after dark and had no trouble finding a huge campsite with plenty of room to spread out. By morning, we noticed a few other campers scattered in the distance, but it still felt peaceful and uncrowded.

This area is perfect for travelers with big RVs or larger rigs—the road is wide, well-maintained, and there are countless dispersed campsites to choose from. If you’re looking for an easy-access dispersed camping area with lots of space and flexibility, this is an excellent option.

I gave it a 4 out 5 as the logging trucks started rolling out around 7am. Still, i would stay here again if i was passing through the area.

Looks like a great place. Lots of campers from all different kinds parked as remotely as possible. Super quiet. There was a sign at the mouth of the area stating no fires this time. But lots of areas had fire rings. Nothing beats a free campsite.
