One of our Best Campground Experiences

We stayed here overnight on the way to Valdez and enjoyed it so much that we returned for two nights on the way back. The campground is right off the highway. Check-in was easy, and we were allowed to pick between two site options, and Karen was offering sites that were not next to another camper since the park wasn't full. We chose back-in site 52 with full hookups (50/30/20 AMP) in their new back area both times. Backing in was easy, and we appreciated that the pad has two sewer hookups, with water and electric centered. Water pressure was decent, around 40 psi. Pine trees surround many of the campsites; we had some, but still got a very usable Starlink signal. Verizon showed 4 bars and T-Mobile 1 bar. This campground is essentially off-grid Alaska, with all the challenges and rules that come with that. For example, black tank flushing isn’t allowed due to septic limitations, trash is burned on-site so flammable or unburnable items are prohibited, and the potable water may have some discoloration. The owners, Karen, who is very hospitable, and Andy, have put tremendous effort into creating this beautiful creekside campground. Campers are expected to respect the rules and Andy, rightfully so, lacks a bedside manner for those who do not. It was a delight to have no neighbors and a wonderful water-view site on Tolsona Creek, where we could hear the flowing water. There’s no formal dog park, but plenty of space to walk your dog. Arctic Grayling fishing was excellent while we were there in August. After over 360 reviews with RV Life, this campground ranks on our Top 10 list for Best Campground Experiences.

A step into nature

Clean, quiet and full hook up sites. No issues with water, electric. Level site and the tavern is a roadhouse that serves food. The pizza is amazing. We had a site on the creek but I don't think there is a bad site there. The owner Andy put a mini oreo on my daughters ice cream, she hasn't stopped talking about it. Will stay here again

A step back to nature

Camped with my family and had the best time. The sites level and have full hook up. No issues with electric or water. Pizza and firewood can be delivered to your site. The owner , Andy, put a tiny oreo cookie on her ice cream and she has not stopped talking about it.

Get location, great tavern. I don't think there is a bad site there.

An Unforgettable Stay at Ranch House Lodge – Truly Above and Beyond!

We recently stayed at Ranch House Lodge in Tolsona, AK, and it was hands down one of the most memorable RV experiences we've ever had— not just because of the beautiful setting, but because of the incredible kindness and hospitality of the owners. They went out of their way to make our daughter’s birthday truly special. Without us even mentioning it in advance, they surprised her with a thoughtful gift, decorated a space in their dining room just for her, and gathered to sing Happy Birthday. It was such a genuine and touching gesture, and it made the day unforgettable for our whole family. The RV park itself is excellent— clean, spacious, and well laid out. The sites are level, with full hookups, and you can choose whether you want to be right along the river or a little further back in a quieter area. The bathrooms and showers were impressively clean and clearly very well maintained. The on-site lodge serves delicious food, and quickly became a favorite hangout spot during our stay. What really sets Ranch House Lodge apart, though, is the history and character of the place. The owners gave us a tour of the property and shared its fascinating backstory. The lodge and grounds are filled with antique items— old cars, vintage washing machines, cash registers, and all kinds of machines true to the era when the lodge was originally built. It felt like stepping back in time, and you could tell how much love and care has gone into preserving that history. Ranch House Lodge is more than just a stopover— it’s a destination full of charm, warmth, and stories. We felt so welcomed and truly appreciated the personal touches throughout our stay. We can’t recommend it highly enough and are already looking forward to coming back!

Great spot while traveling between cities

We planned on staying here to break up our travel along the Glenn going from Palmer to Valdez. This was the perfect place for the night. We had the pleasure of being there on the last day they were open for the season. It was pouring down rain so we joined the owners in their roadhouse for a bowl of chili and pizza instead of sitting outside in the rain. We ended up chatting with them for hours and enjoyed sharing stories about camping and campers we're encountered. As the only tent campers left, they told us to pick any site that looked nice. They were all great tent sites with a stream that runs behind them. Even though it's right off the main highway, the traffic noise is minimal. The tent sites are large with a picnic table, fire ring, and plenty of trees. The shower houses were clean and water warm.

Wonderful people, great campground, love the Tavern

Great RV campground. Owners are very friendly, helpful, personable.. We had a great time. Andy and Karen were lovely host great conversation. The grounds were well kept Andy stayed busy. Sites were nicely spaced out very level. Each site had a table and a fire pit.. Experienced no problem with power or water. Bath houses were gorgeous. The overall value was great with free wifi and hot, clean showers. There is also laundry and firewood available for a good price as well. We stopped into the tavern for some pizza, chili, and beers. It had a community feel to it and we were able to meet and talk to a lot of great people. 100% recommend staying here

Wonderful & Friendly

The moment you arrive, the hosts greet you with all the hospitality you can imagine. The lodge has so much history filled with great food, drinks & dessert!

The camping spots are right off the creek which makes for a perfect evening stroll and peaceful morning cup of coffee.

We will be back! :)

Tolsona campground

Creeksites are fabulous. Peaceful, Hear the creek. Enjoy the sun. Well managed, all sites 50/30/20 amp. Have full hook up as well as tent sites. Keep the place clean. Owners also run the lodge and you need to see inside to understand the beauty. Hand peeled logs, the fireplace was burning, just amazing. A must stop on your Alaskan adventure.

Glennallen Camping

On the way to Valdez we camped at the Ranch House. Very much enjoyed our stay. We have truck camper so the bathhouse is essential. And this campground has all others beat. Not just clean but decorated in moose motif and wood. Very cute. Trout and greyling were multiple but not large. Fun to fish. Had a drink at the bar talked with other guests. Found out about somethings to do in Valdez which is about 2 hours from here. Well maintained sites, bear cans for trash, each site seemed to have fire ring and table. 5 star campground

Best Glennallen Campground. Best Tolsona Campground

On the Glenn Hwy in Tolsona this campground has all the amenities you could want. Large level sites. Full hook up. Waterfront sites on the creek. Greyling and Trout Fishing in the Tolsona Creek. Clean bathrooms. Tavern that not only has a full bar, but makes homemade pizza and chili. I gather that the small community of Tolsona is often looked past so like other businesses in area use Glennallen as the location. So I say Best Campground Glennallen, Best Campground Tolsona. So you if want the best go here for Tolsona Camping, Glennallen camping.

Tolsona Campground Peaceful Quiet Fish Creek

After staying at another campground on my last trip to the Glennallen area, I gave the Ranch House in Tolsona a try. I will never stay anywhere else. The sites are truly enchanting. Large, level, and open. The creek is right there and after staying elsewhere I could not help but compare how charming this campground is. The added charm of the owners and the historic lodge, just makes this the place to spend time at. Loved it.
