Windy but quiet

There wasn’t anyone when we got here. Then someone pulled up down the way. Then after a while they pulled up near us, adjusting themselves. And honestly we appreciated this cause there was lots of moose scat in the area. So any activity was appreciated. There was one bar LTE for ATT if you’re wondering.

It was buggy as well, but only at the start, then we got non stop wind from the south which helped a lot. All in all, a good night and the lake is a lot bigger in person than on the map.

Beautiful views

Playground of the valley. Amazing views but the bugs are horrible. Campsites fill up fast and there are limited restrooms.

Beautiful Lakeside Campground

This campground is located approximately 20 miles off the Glenn Highway down Lake Louise Road. The individual campsites are decently sized, and there are on site bathrooms, water, tables and fire pits. The campground also has a public boat launch, so if you bring a watercraft it opens up not only Lake Louise for exploration, but many of the surrounding other lakes like Susitna and Tyone Lakes. Watch out for caribou and moose, as there are plenty of them around, along with many other species of Alaskan small game like lynx, fox, grouse/ptarmagin, marmots and even wolves to name a few. Many of the campsites have stunning views of the Lake, and the campground is typically not very crowded.

Bumpy Roads

Lake Louise is a favorite aside from the unsteady road you have to drive down to get there. DRIVE SLOW and take your time, especially if you are towing a boat of any sort. There is so much water to explore. You can go through the small channel to Lake Susitna as well but be careful. As big as the lake may be, the shallow areas can sneak up on you.

Lake Life

Lake Louise is huge with so many little coves and beaches to explore. We like this campground for the peaceful atmosphere, but we usually visit in late summer, early fall. Blueberries abound if you look in the right place. We take our boat out on the lake and do a little fishing too. A note of caution - if the water level is down don't take your prop boat through any of the connecting channels. Jet boats work best for navigating the shallow waterways. Lots of sites and it's easy to launch your boat (for a fee). FYI, it's a long and bumpy drive down the gravel road so tie down your toys pretty tight and make sure everything is secure in the camper!

Lake Louise

Great campground with easy access to some of the best lake trout fishing in the world. Well maintained bathrooms and camping areas. Most sites have a picnic table and fire ring. The only drawback to this campground is the rough ride on the road.

Beautiful sunsets, great fishing and quiet, clean campground

While the gravel road out to Lake Louise campground is rough, the campground itself is wonderful. Off the beaten path enough that it was a really nice quiet camping experience. They do an excellent job of maintaining the bathrooms, clean campgrounds with easy access to the water. Great fishing opportunities on Lake Louise, as well as other water activities. Some really epics views and sunrises/sunsets when the weather is nice!
