One of the best

This is one of the best full service RV sites you'll encounter. It's in a prime location downtown (easy walk to everything). The campground itself is well maintained, has excellent power (no voltage drops), a large/clean laundry ($9 to wash and dry 2 loads of laundry), and individual showers/bathrooms. And it's $60/night for a 30A service.

Convenient Basecamp for Exploring Valdez

We followed our GPS straight into the middle of town and right to the campground. Check-in at the office was quick, and we pulled into Pull-through Site 43 with FHUs (30 AMP). The campground was essentially a large gravel parking lot with sparse patches of grass and weeds between a mix of pull-through and back-in sites. While the sites were very close together, the spectacular mountain views in every direction made this CG special. The utilities were well placed in the center of the long pad, allowing us to drop the patio on our 40’ toy hauler and still park our F450. Water pressure was steady at about 50 PSI, and each site had a small picnic table. Connectivity was mixed: 4 bars on Verizon extended network, 3 bars on T-Mobile (sometimes workable), and above-average campground WiFi. With no trees on-site, Starlink had a clear shot from the roof, though placing it on the ground wasn’t practical with other rigs and vehicles moving about. The domestic rabbits that roam all over Valdez were an unexpected and fun addition to our stay. We usually don’t choose in-town campgrounds, but Bear Paw worked well for us. Its location made it easy to explore everything Valdez had to offer, and the surrounding mountain views made the close sites and gravel lot worthwhile.

Amazingly wonderful!

It's not your typical "cozy" campground. It's more of a place to just park your rig, but with all the amenities within walking distance in every direction, it's a great jump-off place. You look up and there are majestic mountains, still with patches of snow and beautiful waterfalls from way high up, 360° surrounding you. You breathe in the fresh salty air and hear the seagulls calling out Who cares where you're parked?

Centrally Located

Bear Paw is located in downtown Valdez and is smack dab in the middle of the touristy shops and restaurants. It's clean, staff is courteous, and spots are okay (not the roomiest). If you are going on a fishing trip it might be a good choice as you can walk across the street to the docks. If you are looking for a more nature based campground, try Allison Point or the campground on Airport Road.

Right by the small boat harbor/ middle of the action

The location is unbeatable. You are right by the harbor and walking distance to shops/ restaurants. Down side is you’re right in the middle of everything so it’s more of a parking lot than a scenic spot. Spots were a little tight and you can hear your neighbors conversations. There are no fire rings and we don’t think campfire is allowed. But bathrooms are clean. The harbor is beautiful. Stay here if you want to be centrally located.

Yes it’s a parking lot

Right across the street is Latte Dah Espresso and this is very close to hiking trails and all the other items you forgot to bring with you. Like nail clippers.

I usually give parking lots 3 stars but honestly if you go at the end of June there are A LOT of bugs at the well trees campgrounds. So this was a plus in my book.

Right down the street from the overlook trail. It’s worth a quick walk UP those stairs.

Second Best for Downtown Valdez

Full hookups across from the small boat harbor. Not a bad place just a bit too squished for our liking. Not trees and privacy but better than the other two parking lit style RV parks in downtown Valdez. Close to fishing and the boardwalk too. Stellar Jay's and bunnies visit the main office daily.
