Sunset RV operates as a basic overnight stop just off Interstate 20 in Cottondale, functioning primarily as a parking lot with full hookups rather than a traditional campground. The facility divides into two sections, with the office, laundry, and bathroom facilities located in the first area while the larger camping section sits across the highway.

Sites consist of gravel spaces with concrete pads, accommodating RVs up to 50 feet with 30/50 amp electric, water, and sewer connections. Most sites house long-term residents, leaving only six spots available for transient campers. The layout places sites facing each other directly, creating a compact arrangement without trees, picnic tables, or fire rings. Road noise from the adjacent interstate continues throughout the night, and bright vapor lighting illuminates the camping areas.

Cat R. describes it as "definitely just a no frills parking lot with full hookups." Management provides reservation confirmations via email with site assignments and directions. WiFi service proves unreliable according to recent visitors. A small dog walking area serves pet owners, though the bathhouse requires crossing the highway from the main camping section.

Campers needing a quick interstate stop before continuing toward Bama RV Station will find this location serves that purpose at $29-32 per night.

Bright light and road noise

Stopped for an overnight on our way home to Atlanta from a trip out west. Not much of a park. Most sites are long term or semi permanent. Only 6 available for regular RV. Water, 30/50 amp electric & sewer There is a small laundry room The office wasn’t open but we had reservations and had received an email about our site and directions. WiFi was poor. It is right off of I-20 so there was lots of road noise all night. There was a very bright vapor light above our site that lit up the whole area. There is a small dog walking area.

Easy Off Interstate

We stayed at Sunset West, which is the same RV park, but just about 5 minutes down the road. Amenities were only available at the east location. This included a small office, laundromat, and shower room. We had site 57, which was a level blacktop site that had sewer, water, cable and electricity. Dumpster located on site for trash. Loud traffic noise. But, with all that, it was 45.33 with tax.

PARKING LOT CAMPING

We stopped here just for a quick overnight stay on our way to Louisiana. Gravel spots with a concrete slab in front. Definitely just a no frills parking lot with full hookups. No trees, no playground, no pool, no picnic table, no fire ring. There are 2 parking areas. The first area has the office, laundry and bathroom. Our site was 53. Each site faces the one parking next to you! See pictures. But, for 29 dollars a night for full hookups, it's ok.

Clean, great overnight place to rest.

This is a very nice place for an overnight stay. If your looking for amenities, this is not the place for you. Clean, nice management, easy in and out. I will stay here again. Full hook ups, including water sewer, electric and cable for $29/a night. No complaints here! Just off the interstate, I feel safe here! If you need a bath house close, again, probably not the place for you. Because it's across the highway. Close to everything in Tuscaloosa. No 5 stars because it sufficient for camping, not much more! Which is what we do!
