      Beautiful state park

Beautiful park, love that it is smaller and felt secure. Enjoyed walking on the dock and view of the water. Went on a treed hike. Not to bad in shade with the water breeze for June.

      Top Rated RV Resort

Arriving in the dark and rain, we were met at the gate and escorted in. He guided me back into the spot and got us settled in. The park is quite and the staff is super. One of the best parks that we have stayed at, ever.

The article blast came while we were here add precautions were made. We were here visiting family and did not participate in the activities that they offered as we were not on property during those times.

We highly recommend this family owned RV Resort!

The Retreat RV & Campground On Styx River

      Welcoming

The retreat offers several amenities including showers, laundromat, and gas grills. There are even bouncy houses and playgrounds for the kids.

It's located on the river and they have a pet beach separate so even your dogs can enjoy the water.

The camp manager is nice and very helpful. They are definitely a great asset.

Full service hookups are currently limited as they work on an expansion, but they do have plenty of water/power hookups both off and on the river. There's also a cabin, glamping tents, and a tiny house. There are plenty of shaded spots.

There are a few long term residents who are friendly and welcoming.

I definitely recommend this campground for a fun, relaxing stay.

      STAY AWAY

It’s more like a mobile home park for traveling workers or angry retired ppl that try to be the park police and make up their own rules and yell at you. Some of the ppl there are extremely rude and sit around and get drunk all day. I also heard some of the drunk old men making sexual remarks to a 12 yr old girl. Our family could not wait for our month to be up. Also, the bugs, mosquitoes, spiders, & cockroaches are crazy. Probably due to many neglected campers and trash left around campers. Never will we stay there again. I would leave 0 stars but I can’t.

      Excellent Landscaping and Well Maintained

We've enjoyed our stay at this RV Park. A lot of thought went into the amenities. There are bench swings, a giant chess board, horseshoe pit, dog run and dog bathing area, pool, cabana/pavilions, and many other amenities. The camping sites are well landscaped with signs welcoming you by name. You can really tell the owners put a lot of thought and work into this RV park. They are very friendly and give you lots of valueable info about the area when you check in. The only downside is the sites are a little cramped/close together, but that didn't bother us any. Will definitely come back!

      Small spaces and disappointing experience

We reserved 4 months ago, only to get there and find out there may be an issue with our dogs (2 max and we have 3...well behaved dachshunds. When we reserved, they "penciled us in". No deposit and no information, other than our name and dates. Got there for our reservation and told that we cant have three dogs there and either have to board one or leave. When i said we had nowhere to go, they were willing to let us stay one night so we could find other accomodations for the next few days, but after that warm welcome, even one night was not an option. Never were we told pets would be an issue, we never got a confirmation email that mentioned pets, and then to arrive and find out we had to find somewhere else to stay was disappointing to say the least. We were able to stay the night at Shield, so we went over there to work on our plans for the next few days. So glad we did, as the sites were much larger, much more private and the office staff was very accomadating with our last minute reservation. Apparently Keesler is adding sites, so it may be better next year, but currently the sites are close together with a fire pit in the center. For the hour we did sit in our site, we had to keep the windows closed because of the smoke. Another issue...the drive in was sketchy for a high profile 5th wheel, with low hanging trees and narrow streets. Lastly, for those lookong for the security and conveniences of staying at a famcamp, this fam camp is off base.

Lots of space to get in and enjoy the water or just chill!

Flint Creek is our go to for a quick weekend camping trip. The spots are big, although there are a few waterside ones that are more of a deck style and limit lateral space. With a few different loops, there is a variety of spaces throughout the park. There is even a primitive camping spot for those folks who want nothing to do with modern necessities.

The park itself is huge with a few beaches in and out of the camping areas. Folks can get sites on the water and pull their boats right up next to their rigs.

      Absolutely perfect!!!

I sent an email via Dyrt app early in the morning, before we departed from a boondock location. The owner called me 20 minutes after they opened, she was very nice and informative. Within a few minutes she had all the information, reservation, and payment done. Immediately after she sent an email with directions for the best way to get to the location, where her and her husband were waiting for our arrival. They took us to our pull through spot, helped us get lined up, and greeted is like old friends! We will be back everytime we are near Mobile. Thank you to the owners for making our families first time staying at an RV park so great!

      Name has changed

This park is now Mobile west. They are still going through some changes. Pretty quiet park with security gates and cameras. Alot of nice size trees with a 14 acre lake and swimming pool. They sell propane on site also. Alot of long term worker campers but it's been a nice month here. I recommend to drive to Dauphin island (about 20 to 30 min).

      Will come back!

First time staying here and was pleasantly surprised. The spot was quiet, the check-in was easy, and the sunrise over the lake was great.

All the hookups worked great and I had a nice lake view spot. It was pretty quiet on the Thursday evening I camped in early December, and I’ll be coming back again.

      Queen of Hearts

The park was filled with friendly campers who made this place enjoyable. The price was a win. The site itself was very basic without Wi-Fi and an old fashion looking water pump. There is a cut field for dogs to run however it is only fenced on 3 sides. Location is in walking distance to the Boomtown Casino.

The Retreat RV & Campground On Styx River

      Fun Camping

Our stay at the retreat on Styx River was very enjoyable. The grounds are very beautiful and there are many places that you can walk around the campground. The river bank is gorgeous and we even spent a dinner out next to the river. The management was very kind and helpful when we required it. Now the areas I think future campers need to be made aware of. The campground website currently (September 4, 2021) that all electric campsites are 50amp which they are not, if you need a 50amp site you will have to call the office to ensure you can secure one, as we just booked online and our spot was a 30amp, while we were not prepared they had an adapter to give us so we were able to plug in. Next, our camper is 35 feet travel trailer, and it was quiet tight getting into our spot, and it will be for most current spots, we would not have been able to park where we were had there been a camper next to us. Lastly, make sure you bring leveling blocks, some of the sites are fairly level while other are not. Our site sloped down towards the river and we needed extra blocks to place under our tires and stabilizers. The only two negatives I ran into was their tubing price to go down the river and be picked up was $30 a person, which was pretty steep price to pay especially for 4 adults. And their dump station was terribly unlevel and we had many issues dumping our tanks. Overall, the Retreat was wonderful and clean. The grounds are fairly well kept and great for kids. I know they plan to expand, we plan to go back once more 50amp outlets are available.

      Flint Creek Waterpark

      Mismanaged

This is essentially 3 separate campgrounds under one location. Sites with sewer hookups are scant & located on sand & dirt sites..we were told we could go into the Mohawk campground and try to find a cement site with sewer hookup, but we found what looked liked homeless encampments (long term residents)...There were also sites with just a pup tent or canopy on them, which led us to think people were paying for 1 site and staking claim to several others.. We found a pretty, concrete, flat site in Seneca campground & some guy came running out demanding to know if this was our site.. Overall, it seems the ‘residents’ run the place...The bathhouses were filthy and trash was overflowing out of cans. We did not stay, but they were gracious to refund our money..Disappointing the campgrounds are unappealing, since the natural areas are so promising.

      Loved my site

I stayed here for 6 months and I was right down by the lake and pool. It is mostly permanent or out of town workers but it is nice and peaceful. Nice people that stay there. It is also gated for only $500 month full hookup.

      Beautiful historic park

This place is rich in history and is absolutely beautiful. We came in on a Tuesday in July and had the tent section to ourselves. It was quiet and secluded. The ground was a bit wet from the morning rain but we were able to find a dry spot to set up camp. There are numerous trails to explore and they are all marked for easy exploration. The only downfall about this place was the showers. The water pressure was basically non existent. Besides the shower situation this place is a 10 out of 10. If you are a nature lover and historic buff then this is the place for you !!
