Stalls or paddocks for your horses fresh water. Also has an arena to ride in. The camp sites don’t have a lot of shade but you can cool off in the pool. This is not a campsite in the deep woods it’s out in the open so don’t expect a woodsy feel although the trails make up for it they are well kept.

LegendCamped here to ring out the old and ring in 2022 with a group of Sisters. The staff was professional and quick at check in, even inquired if I was aware of the forecasted incoming weather during my stay and explained emergency procedures. HUGE campground. All the sites are nice sized, though an update is needed on pavement, pads and amenities. They keep what they have well maintained. Tree top, mini golf and archery activities are present. Of course you are on the at one time largest man made lake so all those water activities. There are nice trails that are adequately marked. Once again updates would be nice. There is an Equine campground and a contractor for trail rides nearby if you don’t have your own horse. The area offers many small towns with antiquing and interesting local businesses/restaurants. Worth a visit for a weekend or week of your summer if you can get a reservation.
LegendThis is one of the largest state run campgrounds with over 500 sites. We stayed at site 100 it was an excellent site right on the water next to us was like a private beach. This is the only public access to Lake Martin. Large lake for swimming, boating, fishing. Sites are very open to each other but a lot of shade. Bathhouses are large and very well taken care of but I did not have any hot water at the time. Bathhouse was also a bit of a hike from site but had parking area so we drove over there and included a nice laundry facility. Several hiking trails fishing and other outdoor activities at this park. Cabins are available and premium campsites that have 50 amp service, water, sewer, cable and waterfront access. This park is close to stores and restaurants within a 20 minute drive. This campground definitely has a lot of amenities.
ScoutAwesome campground. If you look at the map you’ll see that some sites are full hook-up and some are not. We stayed in C section with full hook-ups. They have playgrounds throughout the campground, trails from 1 mile long to 15 miles long that can be utilized by horse, bike, or on foot. Boat rentals include two different places. The marina for motorized jon boats and pontoon boats. You can rent these for 4-48 hours. If you’re renting one of their boats then you need a vessel license. If you don’t have a vessel licenses then you can take the test at the marina. At the Creem Shop (they sell ice cream, burgers, etc) you can rent pedal boats and canoes. They have a zip line and tree line adventure course, mini-golf, a beach area for swimming, and plenty of fishing spots. They also offer church services on Sunday morning. Check in is at 4 pm and check out is at 2 pm. Spots are close together but I’ve seen worse. Campground is clean and wasn’t noisy. We will definitely be coming back for a longer stay in the future.
TravelerWind Creek is a big, busy campground located right on the shores of Martin Lake outside of Alexander City. There is a ton to explore from canoeing and kayaking to hiking and rock climbing. We would definitely visit this campground again!
TravelerVery clean campground. Stroller friendly for the most part - we took many walks around! The marina store has tons of useful items that you could forget to bring along with alcohol. The waterfront view was gorgeous! We will be visiting again soon!
RangerLocated on Lake Martin with lots of space and many lake front sites as well as interior sites. Plenty of Great bath house facilities throughout. Lots of activities, family and dog friendly too. Not many people this time of year, which we like. Good hiking trails, Fishing, archery, playgrounds, all kinds of water sports. Take the time to visit this State Park.
RangerLake Martin is beautiful and there are many places to camp along it. This is the only state park along the lake and the campground closest to town (with grocery, restaurants, etc.). There are nice hiking and horseback riding trails through the woods, swimming beaches, a marina, a little cafe with boat rentals. Lots to do for all ages, from sitting watching the water to riding bikes through the roads. There are many loops to choose from but less than 25% of them are along the water. There are some furnished cabins also. Simple place to camp but quite nice.
Yay: Love the lake and boating around it.
Nay: Sites are a little crowded but there are some trees to improve privacy. Campground feels a little crowded.
Surprise: Check out Pineywood Island, kids will love to run around and entire little island.
