Don’t Stay Here

We needed a campground close to the hwy for a quick overnight stay. Big mistake. It smelled like dead animals so badly that we had hold our breath at times bc of the smell. We thought the playground would be good for our girls, but between the overgrown weeds and the smell, they couldn’t even…

Peach Queen campground

When we arrived the grass was very tall. They did mow today. Just not my site as we were occupying it. It has full hook ups. Not very much shade. My site has none. The bathrooms are dirty. The pool is a nice size. It could use a vacuum. There is a decent size jungle gym at the playground. My 8 year…

Excellent spot to pitch a tent

We needed a place in a pinch since we got on the road in the afternoon. Spoke with a very nice man on the phone (Jim Scott if memory serves me) who directed us to book online... $18 for the night and we had running water, a fire pit, and a decent little plot overlooking a section of the Alabama…

Some sites better than others.

We stayed here over the 4th of July weekend so it was very busy, even with some rain showers.

We stayed at site 23 for 3 nights. this site is located next to the boat ramp and parking lot so there was a lot of traffic. It’s next to the water but 3-4 feet above the water line and blocked by bushes…

Clean quiet campground

We have stayed here many times when were on the road heading  out for the summer.  We had full hook up, a picnic table & there is a small clean restroom near the pool if needed along with a laundry room & place to sit inside if it's hot out.  They have DVD's and some books we trade them…

Great resting spot

Its right off the interstate and easy in/out. They have late self check for any spot open. Nothing fancy but its clean. Tables were only at a couple of end-row spots. We stayed one night and only saw the staff once to pay heading out, friendly people. Didn't use the showers, restrooms, or pool,…

Quiet, Gorgeous

So nice. Many sites right on the water. Quiet and well equipped. Weather was perfect for a fire right next to the river. Fire ring, charcoal grill, flat paved sites...perfect for this 24' RV.

Waterfront camping

Gorgeous sites, many right on the water. We saw huge paddlefish jumping out of the water, many birds and deer on the nature trail. Bring fishing poles. Staff super friendly. Would get five stars but the ants really are bad. It's a southern campground thing apparently. Be prepared and you'll be…

  • Last site on the peninsula, walk in.

Peaceful stopover - looked like mostly fishermen camping around me.

I thought I was lost I had traveled so far off the beaten path. Suddenly I see a sign! Whew! Surrounded by water this campground was not very full in November. On a tiny island there appeared to be thousands of birds roosting in the evening. In the morning it was interesting to watch them taking…

Bring ant killer if camping in tents!

The tent sites are walk in only...guess I missed that bit of info when I reserved. The guy at the gate was nice enough to change us from the furthest site to the closest...with 2 kids in tow I definitely didn't want to carry all the our supplies in! Sadly the sites were infested with ants!! They…

  • Right by the water! Biggest fear was being told there's a gator nearby but we never saw it!
