Sitting on the grounds of an active archaeological site, this small campground at Moundville Archaeological Park gives RV campers direct access to one of the largest Mississippian mound complexes in North America. Sites are level. All sites include water and electric hookups, four of which are pull-throughs suited to rigs up to 40 feet, and a dump station sits at the campground exit. The bathhouse has seen recent upgrades, and information panels are posted at the mounds themselves. Campers interested in places to camp near Moundville will find a handful of options within a short drive, including Happy Hooves Farm - RV Parking to the northeast. The archaeological park adds a layer of context that makes this a practical stop for history-minded travelers passing through central Alabama.
