Mollidgewock State Park operates this riverside campground along Route 16, where the Androscoggin River creates a narrow corridor between the roadway and water. The 40-plus sites stretch along the riverbank, with most offering direct access to fishing spots and calm water suitable for kayaking and paddleboarding.
Sites vary considerably in privacy and terrain. The lower-numbered sites (1-5) sit closest to the road entrance, where vehicle headlights and traffic noise are most noticeable at night. Higher-numbered sites deeper in the campground benefit from increased river sounds that help mask road activity. Sites 19 and 7a provide the most seclusion, while sites 34 and 36 feature lean-to structures positioned directly on the water. Rachel P. warns that "sites 20 and 23 were both extremely wet and muddy, particularly #20."
The campground maintains a rustic character with vault toilets, water spigots, and fire rings but no showers or electrical hookups at tent sites. RV sites accommodate rigs up to 25 feet with full hookups. Canoe and kayak rentals are available on-site, and the calm river conditions make paddling accessible for most skill levels. Fishing produces regular catches of rainbow trout, particularly near the rapids at the head of the campground.
Route 16 through this area ranks among New Hampshire's top moose-viewing corridors, with sightings most common at dawn and dusk. Cell service remains limited throughout the campground, though signals improve with a short drive toward town. The campground operates from mid-May through early October, with construction currently underway on new bathhouses scheduled for completion by spring. For campers wanting additional amenities, Log Haven Campground provides full facilities just three miles north.
