Tugaloo State Park Campground

Loved this campground... Extra clean facilities. The atmosphere here felt serene and calm. Thoroughly enjoyed this relaxing trip. Would recommend this place!

Lots of clean bath-houses, tons of various camping & helpful DNR & HOSTS.

This campground was not fully booked, yet most campsites were maxed out with people in each one so it felt extremely busy with lots of partying-like noise. Lots of vehicle/ golf cart/ sxs traffic throughout grounds and past our campsite at all hours. Only a few campsites offer a little bit of privacy, most have none. Lots of pictures that show waterfront property can be deceiving. Bathrooms were big and very clean, and all staff were friendly.

We live in NC and have camped all over the eastern US. By far Georgia is a state with some of the very best infrastructure. Roads are great. State Parks are some of the best and we’ve camped at many. Tugaloo State Park is a nice park. Right on the lake. Lots of lake related activities. This area of the campground (sites 73-105) has a unique layout in that a large number of sites are pull through and arranged sideways along the access roads. This makes the sites long and narrow and results in close neighbors. The elongated sites mean the picnic table and fire pit are at far end and feel disconnected from the site. Roads are well maintained and sites all seemed pretty level. We were in site 97 with W/E. The bathhouse was very close, but we did not use it. We were a few rows back from the lake but had a view of the lake through the tall pines that provided some shade. We’ve camped here a couple of other times and would come back again.

We love Tugaloo! One of our favorite campgrounds, with so much to do. Our sites this go around were the absolute best, so wide and roomy, probably two of the best sites in the campground. Lake is right across the way from us for some beautiful views, nice beach swimming and parking the boat. The campground has awesome activities through the summer for the kids and for families. Definitely a much visit!

Really enjoyed our stay here. We camped over Thanksgiving 2022. Campground had very clean facilities, however our nearest bathhouse didn't have hot water, but they were waiting for a new water heater. Camp host was very friendly. Sites were good size with a nice view of the lake. Campground was quiet at night. Roads were a little narrow for larger rigs but look to be well maintained.

Title says it all! Their GPS directions took us down an impassable washed out county road! Avoid it and go straight! 3 more right turns and you’ll get here much easier!

Once we actually arrived to our site, it was beautiful and easy to pull through. Only a little off level, which we fixed easily. Great cement benches and huge fire fits on site. Very spacious with a decent view of the lake. Clean facilities, showers have super strong pressure and do heat up quite well if you give it a few minutes.

Overall an amazing campground worth visiting!

Bathroom had lots of nats and dust webs and campsite full of yellow jackets.

This campground has a lot of sites on the water front.  

We only stayed one night on our way to N.C.  and it was about right length as I was ready to go. The lake is really great, but our view was through the forest, so It wasn't as good.  They have some really cool looking cabins that would be a fun way to spend some time.  

The visitors center had nothing of interest for me or my son which is the first time this has ever happened.  No cool decals to adorn the back of our trailer.  Oh well.  

Bathrooms seemed clean.  The sites are well spread out with the exception of waterfront and some are almost directly on the road.  Our's was.  I think if we had more time and rented a kayak or a canoe (Which are available, it would have been more fun).

Georgia state park. On lake Hartwell. Nice sites. Nice bath houses. Small store in office. Yurts are fun! Quiet.

Yurt camping was 5 stars here. The yurts were very private and spaced out. We went during the week and we were the only ones there. There was a private sandy beach area to fish or play from. If you’re looking to go yurt camping I highly recommend staying here. Yurt 6 looked the best.

This is a great campground. Lots of spacious campsites. Lots of choices. We were lakeside on a pull through that was a bit short for us. The site was amazing we could kayak up to our site. Pet friendly, family friendly. Power, Electric, gray water dumps near each site. Washer and dryer in each bathhouse. A beautiful campground.

Have stayed here a couple of times. Loved it, premium sites close to the water are excellent.

It’s always such a good place to escape when we want a short getaway! The lake is always a good time and the campground is large! The beach is such a great go to during the hot summer months for the kids, and has a great park next to it. The park near the campground has been updated and is a hit with our son. So many hiking trails throughout the park as well. You can’t go wrong with this park!

This was our first official RV trip in our personal RV. We’ve stayed at National campsites in rentals and cabins. Yet this location was one of our favorites. The amenities they offer and the space they provide between campsites. We’re able to fish, swim, and so much more right at our camp site. The park beach is just another enjoyable pleasure!

Our lakefront site #72 was gorgeous, but a VERY tight fit for our 36' pull behind and crew cab truck. Narrow roads made navigating VERY difficult for all. Probably won't come back because of I85 and narrow roads & tight spaces within the campground. Water crystal clear and lovely.

Had a wonderful time at this campground. Easy access to the lake for using our paddle boards.

Spent another 3 nights at Tugaloo State Park.  It is our happy place.  Our campsite was extraordinary.  Beautiful sunrise each morning and the weather was perfect camping on the lake weather.  There is so much to do at this park or just relax watching the boats go by.

We have camped at Tugaloo State Park in Georgia on many occasions. It is literally around the corner from our home but we love to take a break and camp at this gem.  Most spaces are on Lake Hartwell.  They are clean and not too close together.  The camp director puts on many fun activities for the kids on the weekends from scavenger hunts to learning about the many animals that call this park home.  You have your choice of sunrise or sunset views.

Although a nice campground several things turned me off about this campground.  Mainly the lack of enforcement of dogs running loose, owners not cleaning up after their dogs and enforcement of number of people on a site.  The roads into the campground loops are narrow in spots and not well marked at all.  Backing our 30' motorhome into our site required asking the neighbor to move his truck off our site and maneuvering around other vehicles parked in the road.  The site was fairly level and offered a picnic table and fire ring with quite a bit of grassy area. Unfortunately, the neighbor on that side decided it belonged to them and set up games in it, then near dark other people joined them and set up a third tent in that area. Sites are 30/20 electric and water, but there is a dump station.  This has the potential to be a very nice campground, and I'll go back sometime. Perhaps we just had one bad experience so we'll try it again sometime.

My wife and I decided to make a last minute trip to Tugaloo State Park this past weekend. The sites were large and spacious. We were in site #8 right on the lake. Water, electric and cable tv connections. No sites with sewer, but dump station has two receptacles so there was no wait to dump tanks on way out.

Really enjoyed the lakefront campsites. We stayed at site 7 which is a pull through. We had camper and extra car with boat and kayak and fit with a little extra room. Able to kayak right from campsite. Campground has over 100 sites. None of the lake front were bad, some were low level, some had fenced railing with a little drop. All had great views some interior lots had lake views. Some interior lots were close together. Bath houses were very clean and spacious. Have a couple of hiking trails. I did the Sassafras’s Loop trail which follows the lake shore most of time and great views the rest. Our dogs loved all the space, no swimming due to temperatures in the 40s. Lots of stars at night. Very clean and well kept park. Camp hosts were helpful. Very nice staff at the Visitor Center, registration area. They also have cabins with docks and yurts as well. Great views from them as well. Will be back in warmer weather.

Great park to visit for a night. Has a beach. It is lacking trails to explore compared to other parks. Yurts are super nice. Warm in the summer though. Yurt 6 has its own private beach area ;)

This is one of my least favorite State Parks. You are packed in, sites close together. I usually love State Parks for the privacy. Not the case at this park. If you book early and get a water front sites, they were nice. Not big rig friendly. I have a 43ft 5th Wheel and it was very tight navigating through the park. Electric 30amp and Water only. Dump station has easy access. Trash was not picked up around trash cans. We actually left a day early.

We just got home from here. Love this place! We had site 51, on the water. It was a lake front pull through and it was great! Even has cable. And the Verizon and AT&T signal was good. This campground is huge, with lots of bath houses that are clean. Can’t wait to go again.

Cabins are great. Camp sites are a bit crowded, but a nice, well kept park.
