Great water views

We stayed in campsite 71 for three nights in late January. The weather was chilly but calm. We loved the water views and the quiet setting. During the weekdays we were almost alone in our portion of the park, so we enjoyed taking the dog down to the little beach area (as there was no fishing). The weekend resulted in quite a bit of traffic as all the waterfront lots were filled. Decent separation between stalls, but lost the woody feel instantly.

We selected a site fairly close to the bathhouse, but those facilities were closed the entire time we were there. I didn’t observe any signage about why these where closed. This created a longer walk to the showers than desired in the 30-degree nights.

We arrived after hours and tried to check in the next morning. The office staff was very strict about observing their lunch hour. They were walking out as we were walking up and didn’t offer to assist us. There was no answering machine either as we tried to call a couple times once the lunch hour was over. Once we did make contact they were super friendly and helpful.

Permanent Resident Park

Overall: B

The Good: FRIENDLY check-in. Easily the best thing about this stay was the hospitality of the management. Not only did they allow our late check-in, provided a dinner recommendation, and a little welcome bag. The bath house was small but was warm and mostly clean (could have used a once over and trash removed). Even though we were there in late December all utilities were still on. Electrical connection even had a light to assist with connection. Lots of green space for walking the dog.

The not great: this is definitely a primarily permanent resident and we were definitely the interlopers at the site. Wish there was more trees to give a park feel.

Didn’t get to enjoy all amenities due to winter closures.

Best campsite of our trip

Overall: A+

All around excellent experience from the check in with the Park Ranger, choice of lake view spots, nice bath house, and quiet location. Even with the short trip off the Interstate the side was quiet and scenic.

There are a number of sites either right on or with lake views. The bath house was clean and warm and very accessible to most RV stalls. The water at the stall was off, as expected, as we were there in Late December.

I plan on stay at this site again, so should you.

Good stop for night

Overall: A

The Good: the site connections were all available, even in late December. The upper loop road for the small campers was super clean and quiet. The bathhouse was a pleasant surprise. They were spacious, warm and clean.

The Not So Great: the site location, while close to the interstate was via some smaller mostly residential streets. The back loop road appeared to be where the long term rentals were located and was much more cluttered and less presentable.

No Assessment: there were several other amenities that we didn’t have the opportunity to use that appeared nice, clean, and accessible.

Wait for the improvements

First thing, the new owners have some work pending that I trust will make a huge difference to the traveling campers soon. However, we didn’t get to enjoy those improvements.

The good: The reservation process was friendly and they accommodated our after hours arrival. The electrical connections were great with 50/30/20 amp receptacles. Location was convenient and easy to access.

The not so great: The date was in late December so we expected some winterizing. So the water was off at the site. It was also off at the bath house. No water for bathing, washing hands, toilets or washing dishes. The sewer connection was missing a cap and thus covered by a rock. It took us a while to even find it. The dumpster was overly full and needed dumped. The site seemed to be a storage for various materials, not if they where project related or not.
