Blake Island Marine State Park Campground sits on an island in Puget Sound, managed by Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission, and reachable only by private boat or a roughly one-hour ferry from Seattle. No road access exists. The island's perimeter trail gives hikers views across the water toward the Seattle skyline. Rangers enforce quiet hours at 10pm, and summer burn bans are common, so campers should plan accordingly. This campground works best for boaters and day-trippers who want a waterfront stay with basic amenities, including showers, drinking water, and firewood, without driving anywhere near Manchester State Park Campground or other mainland sites.
Description
Blake Island Marine State Park is a 476-acre marine camping park with 5 miles of saltwater beach shoreline. The park is reachable only boat. Once off the boat, let your boots or bicycle take you down miles of trail to the island's interior, where forest animals and birds make appearances. Or stay near the water and fish, dig for clams in season or go scuba diving. Arriving by human-powered watercraft? Hunker down in one of the Cascadia Marine Trail campsites at the west end of the island for majestic sunsets over the Olympic Mountains.
