Holiday Park Military - Lewis McChord Base

Situated on the shores of American Lake within Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Holiday Park Military gives eligible campers full-hookup RV access on open terrain a short drive from places to camp around Spanaway. Access requires a military ID. The campground sits on relatively flat, open ground near the water, with trees present but not dense enough for reliable satellite internet coverage.

Full hookups include 30/50 amp electric, water, and sewer at each site, and the loop also features fire pits, grills, trash service, showers, and laundry. Sites run close together, though the loop layout helps offset that. As Paul B. notes, "sites are a bit close, but the campground loop makes it feel spacious." Stays are capped at 28 days per spot, and reviewers note regular turnover from active-duty personnel, which means the campground stays in motion. Cell coverage is a known limitation, with T-Mobile signal reported as weak and tree canopy interfering with Starlink reception.

The lake is the main draw. Campers can access American Lake directly from the campground, and the area has also been used for day trips and gatherings. Showers are reported clean. The campground is big-rig friendly and open year-round. Military campers looking to compare options on the installation may also want to check Fort Lewis Military or Lewis North Travel Camp - Joint Base Lewis McChord, both located on the same base.

Many campers appreciated the comprehensive amenities and lakefront setting, though military base access is required. Connectivity issues and site spacing vary, but facilities consistently receive strong praise.

Alright

Campground was alright. Lots of full time airmen and soldiers. They have to move sights every week or so. That being said, there is lots of movement. Cell signal is very weak for t-mobile and trees prevent starlink from working well.

Close to Seattle

To a military ID card holder, you won't find a better deal. Full hookups, sites are a bit close, but the campground loop makes it feel spacious. Clean showers. There is no wifi unless your at the camp office.

American Lake Camp Ground (JBLM)

Good little camp ground on post with almost everything you need. It is in the wilderness, on the lake, but it is also fairly close to stores and gas stations. Long term max is 28 days per spot. All hookups available trash laundry showers bathrooms fire pits as well as grills all in each spot

Great place

Great for those with base access. The tent camp sites were private enough and the laundry and running water/showers were a huge plus!

Nice lake if you have someone that can get you on base

We didn't camp here but we did come for a day trip at the lake. I had a going-away party here and we had a secluded picnic spot and a private piece of the lake to put in inner-tubes. Great experience, but you have to know someone that can get you there :)
