Overview
The Wilderness at Belmead is a privately owned campground set on a 2,200-acre historic estate in Powhatan County, Virginia, about 45 minutes west of Richmond. The property borders the James River and offers tent camping, full-hookup RV sites, and a single cabin rental. It operates seasonally from April 1 through November 1.
Facilities
All RV sites offer 30/50-amp electric, water, and sewer hookups on gravel pull-through pads, each with a picnic table and fire ring. A covered communal pavilion, hot-shower bathhouse, and clean restrooms are accessible from all camping areas. The Hide Out Cabin includes a double bed, AC/heat, and a private bathroom and shower, and is available year-round. Primitive tent sites are available for campers seeking a back-to-basics experience.
Recreation
The campground provides direct access to the James River for fishing and water activities, plus on-property walking trails. A communal recreation field is available for open-air games and gatherings.
