Beautiful lake; good value

Level site with good drainage made this a nice spot for a 3-day rest during a time of limited personal mobility. Washrooms are at quite a distance from this site so we were glad to be completely self-contained. Accessibility to both beach swimming areas is risky for those needing to use a cane or…

Pit Stop

We thought we would try a different place for our mid-point stop to Myrtle Beach. It's a Good Sam park, clean bathrooms, small pool, no fire rings, close access to freeway. Alot of highway noise can be heard from the campground, even with the hilly grazing pasture for cows between the highway and…

Campground with large playground

Our group had both an RV and a large tent. The room allowed for both was very generous. The grounds and bath house were clean and well maintained. Barry the owner is very helpful and accommodating. He will deliver wood to your campsite, if you need to buy wood. Our sites were creek side. The kids…

No alcohol allowed !!

The police visited us bc we were drinking outside of our camper. He was very nice and explained no alcohol allowed. This is clearly stated and we were in the wrong. Spaces are not private but the lake is beautiful. I can see where some people would love this campground. We canoed and that was fun.

Disappointing

Sites are very close together with just a small spot of outdoor personal space. The campground sits on a hillside with multiple gravel roads. Although the landscaping is nice, there’s no trees near any campsites for shade. It’s right near the main highway which is convenient, but also noisy. No…

Nice park

We stayed 3 nights at Fort Chiswell. Although first impressions weren’t that great, it grew on me. This is a lovely park right off the main highway. You don’t hear any noise because a large hill blocks every thing off. RV sites aren’t really spacious, but are shaded with a picnic bench. No fire…

Nice place for a few nights

Stayed here for 3 nights while slowly making our way to South Carolina. Very pretty area nestled in the mountains. It’s just off the interstate, but heard very little traffic due to large hill. Lots of cows and sheep grazing in the fields nearby. Most of the people who came were overnight only, so…

Campsites are okay but the park is AMAZING

The campsites are fine. The bathrooms are clean and everything is well maintained... The sites just don't feel very private or well spaced. But the park itself... And being able to stay IN the park.... That is what makes the difference. The hiking trails are incredible, great waterfalls. Some…

Wonderful location to camp

The hill to climb to get there is SUPER sketchy but it’s a gorgeous location. If you want to go ride dirt bikes or UTVs this place is definitely the spot. The staff are excellent, they brought us firewood in the rain and stayed to chat with us for a bit. Dogs are allowed, in fact, the owners have a…

Wonderful campground, really is!

A bit out of the way but well worth it. Sites are large and pretty much flat. A stream runs thru the campground low in the banks. We had E, W no sewer a convenient dump station. Close to stone Mountain, natural area, not commercial like in GA. It is a beautiful setting, couple miles from a…

Beautiful park in a beautiful setting

Lots to do here, great trails for hiking. The campground was nice, some spots were more level than others and there wasn’t much screening between sites, but in all the setting was beautiful and the park was worth the visit. The bathhouse was clean . The hot water in the shower wasn’t that hot,…

Beautiful park, nasty facilities

I went back and forth on whether I should give this rating two stars or three. In the end, I chose three stars because the mountain itself is so amazing. Geologically this was great place to visit and the trails were well marked and maintained. Beautiful hike. The campground was beautiful but…

Awesome sites/camping cabins and GREAT river tubing experiences

The staff here is INCREDIBLY friendly and the check-in building/store is small but mighty, offering items like local honey, local preserves and camping/swimming/tubing accessories.

We stayed in the camping cabins located on the hill behind the store. It was so quiet & offered a beautiful view…
