wonder in the east

stayed here to be somewhat close to the national park. we ended up staying an extra night because we enjoyed the camp so much. staff was all around lovely. had a few trails around and a camp store. only “downside” was little to no service, which we didn’t mind but something to note. would happily come back :)

Worst campers around

So, I don't visit a ton of campgrounds, and I don't consider myself an avid camper, though I do want to camp more often. However, I have stayed at several campgrounds, and while this campground is beautiful, has amazing features, etc, beware the campers. The campers that stay here are a completely different type of unruly. I know this is a family and pet friendly campground, but the level of crazy was ridiculous. There were several dogs barking nonstop with no one trying to shush them, including one extremely loud and ear splitting barker that barked for about ten minutes straight. Also, children screaming extremely loudly since 7am, which I didn't appreciate when they had been screaming until 10pm the night before. This campground needs to enforce quiet hours better and the campers here need to learn to respect other campers around them. If I could get a refund, I would. These campers are a different kind of breed and need a reality check on how to act like normal humans. Do not stay here if you expect any sort of normal human interaction.

Pleasant Stop for an Overnight or a Couple of Days

Picked this one off the internet for a two-night stay on our way from NC to Maine. Though Saturday night was a bit crowded, we had it to ourselves on Sunday-Monday. Decided to stay another night on our return trip and it did not disappoint. The staff is very friendly and helpful; the sites are large, though fairly open to each other. There are a couple of nice, short trails and the natural chimney formations are fascinating. Thanks to a tip from the office, a great bonus was eating at an Italian restaurant in nearby Bridgewater. Will be giving it 5-stars in an upcoming TripAdvisor review.
