Tucked into George Washington National Forest outside Bentonville, Little Crease Shelter sits along the Massanutten Trail and requires a hike in from the Veach Gap Trailhead. The access road transitions from asphalt to gravel before reaching the parking area. It's free. The shelter holds four bunks accommodating up to eight campers, with a fire ring, a vault toilet roughly 50 yards away, and a bear pole for food storage. Water is available from a nearby stream. Hunters use this area seasonally, so blaze orange is worth packing depending on time of year. Campers wanting a drive-in alternative can look at Low Water Bridge Campground a few miles to the southeast.
