Campers are Saying

Lee Hi Campground, near Lexington, Virginia, is a practical stop for travelers looking to recharge during their journeys. This spot offers pull-through sites with full hookups, making it easy for RVers to settle in without the hassle of unhitching.

The campground is located adjacent to a travel plaza, which means you’ll have access to amenities like showers and laundry facilities. Visitors have mentioned that it’s a decent place for a quick overnight stay, especially if you need to top off on power and water. One camper noted, “We stopped here for a rest on a long trip... Perfect.”

While it’s not a destination for extended vacations, it serves well for those just passing through. The noise from trucks can be a factor, but many find it to be a manageable background hum. If you’re looking for a simple place to rest your head before hitting the road again, Lee Hi Campground fits the bill.

A situation-dependent stopover

For $43.24 we got a pull through site with full hookups. However, we had to disconnect shore power because we kept tripping the 50A service even when we turned our draw down to 30A. As we head into 2 weeks of sewerless sites, this made sense for us to stop, shower, laundry, and top up on power and water. If you don’t have that sort of limitation ahead, this gas station truck stop likely isn’t worth your money.

Below Average

First, it’s difficult to find and difficult to call for directions if the one clerk in the truck stop office is busy, which is most of the time. Yes, it is full hookup and many sites are pull through. But, there’s truck noise all night which resembles a train that never stops.

Great overnight stop

We stopped here for a rest on a long trip. Arrived late, had reserved a pull through site with FHU, so we didn’t have to unhitch. Perfect.

Not a vacation place more of a overnight passing through thing

I do not reccomend this place for extended stay. It is not very pleasant. It is a truck stop so expect truckers and using same showers as them. It has “residents” who live in campers here. But it will do for passing through and a just a place to rest for the night. No amenities other than WiFi in truck stop and electric hookups

Easy one night stay

This was the ONLY place that would allow a one night stay on Memorial Day weekend, which we needed (as we were just passing through).

We reserved a pull-through site (42) with 30/50amp and water. Check in is at the fuel desk at the travel plaza (which has a chicken place and an IHOP inside as well).

The campground is small and overlooks the travel plaza. You can hear the trucks idling but it’s a white background noise. You can’t hear the highway, which is on the other side of the mountain in the back of the campground.

Restrooms were older but clean during our stay and a short walk from the camp site. There are no picnic tables or fire rings at the sites. Our site was gravel and level.

While this isn’t a destination place with tons to see and do at the campground itself, it’s a great place for a one night stop on the way to somewhere else (or even just a base camp to enjoy the local sites in Natural Bridge).
