Within Fishlake National Forest, Little Cottonwood Dispersed Camping provides free backcountry camping accessible only by foot. The US Forest Service manages this walk-in site along a creek in forested terrain near both river and lake features. Campers can bring pets and build campfires while staying in this undeveloped area.
The hike-in access means visitors carry all gear to their chosen spot among the trees. This dispersed camping near Fishlake National Forest requires self-sufficiency since no facilities exist on-site. Plan to pack out all waste and bring adequate water for your stay.
Description
The Little Cottonwood Campground is conveniently located off Utah's I-15, adjacent to the Beaver River just outside of the community of Beaver in the Fishlake National Forest. At 6,500 feet in elevation, this is a great place to enjoy the mountains where recreation opportunities include stream fishing, hiking, and hunting.
For the more hearty camper, or for those that wish to get away from the crowds, the dispersed, or undeveloped camp areas are for you. Of course visitors can camp nearly anywhere on the national forest, just make sure if you pack it in, you pack it out. https://www.fs.usda.gov/detailfull/fishlake/recreation/?cid=stelprdb5121831&width=full
