Hells Backbone / 153 (large site)

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Situated along Hells Backbone Road in Dixie National Forest, site 153 is a large dispersed pull-in that accommodates vans and bigger rigs without tight maneuvering. Elevation brings noticeably cooler temperatures than the Escalante valley below. Trees provide good coverage between sites. Campfires and pets are both permitted, and the area is drive-in accessible with a short walk-in option as well. Campers wanting a developed alternative nearby can consider Blue Spruce, roughly a mile to the northwest, or browse camping near Boulder for a wider range of setups in the region.

Nice wooded site next to road with view

Coming from Escalante, this site was one of the first high up the mountain that offered a long line of site. We pulled our van right in. There’s plenty of space and nice trees. Even though Escalante was hot, it was nice up here.
