Free and hike-in only, Granary Springs sits on BLM land outside Hanksville in the Robbers Roost and Spur canyon country of southeastern Utah. The area has multiple established fire rings and goes by the informal name "Motel 6" among canyoneers, a reference spray-painted on an old metal bunkhouse on-site. No cell service reaches the area. The main access road runs through deep sand and washboard sections, making four-wheel drive strongly recommended. Cattle share the range here, and desert wildlife including rattlesnakes and scorpions are a real consideration. Campers staging trips to campgrounds around Hanksville should note there are no facilities at this site, so arrive fully self-sufficient.
