Peaceful Dispersed Camping, Silver Island Mountains

The dispersed site that I camped at is about 100 yards north of this particular site on an unnamed dead end track. Both sites are located off of Lower Rishel Peak Rd. Large site with a clean rock fire ring. Mostly level gravel surface. It's on a rise a little more than a half-mile away from Silver Island Loop Rd. There is a view of the Bonneville Salt Flats. No hiking trails, but it's easy to wander around in the desert and visit a nearby cave. Very peaceful. No one else around. Stayed 2 nights. Loved it here.

Frequently Asked Questions

What amenities are available at Lost Boys Peak Campsite?

Lost Boys Peak Campsite is a primitive dispersed camping area with minimal amenities. The site features a clean rock fire ring and a relatively level gravel surface for setting up tents or parking vehicles. There are no developed facilities such as water, electricity, restrooms, or trash service available. Visitors should be prepared to pack in all needed supplies and pack out all waste. Despite being remote, the area surprisingly offers Verizon cell service, which can be helpful for emergency communications.

Where is Lost Boys Peak Campsite located in Utah?

Lost Boys Peak Campsite is located in a remote area near Wendover, Utah. The site is situated off of Lower Rishel Peak Road, in BLM (Bureau of Land Management) land. It's positioned at the base of a hill in a secluded area that offers excellent stargazing opportunities due to minimal light pollution. The campsite is far enough from main roads to provide peace and quiet, yet still accessible for campers seeking solitude in western Utah's desert landscape.

Is a 4WD vehicle required to access Lost Boys Peak Campsite?

While 4WD is not strictly required to access Lost Boys Peak Campsite, a vehicle with decent ground clearance is recommended. The campsite is accessed via Lower Rishel Peak Road, which is an unpaved route that may have rough or uneven sections. Road conditions can vary seasonally, potentially becoming more challenging after rain or during winter months. For the most reliable access, especially if you're unfamiliar with the area, a vehicle with higher clearance and good traction capabilities would be beneficial.
