Fishing enthusiasts will find Four Jeffrey Campground positioned along Bishop Creek, with several sites backing directly to the stream. The US Forest Service facility sits in Inyo National Forest, featuring both reservable and first-come, first-served sites scattered across an open hillside setting.
Most sites perch on elevated ground with limited natural shade, though campers consistently note the streamside spots offer more coverage and privacy. "Our site was nice and private with a stream in back," reports Alan M.. Daily cleaning maintains the bathroom facilities, and camp hosts assist with site assignments and area information.
The campground provides access to South Lake within a 10-15 minute drive, connecting campers to hiking trails including the Treasure Lakes route. Several reviewers mention nearby fishing opportunities along the creek system. Sites fill quickly during peak summer weekends, particularly the coveted streamside locations.
For additional options, campers can explore campgrounds just outside Bishop or check nearby Big Trees Campground for availability. Mountain elevation brings cooler temperatures year-round, so pack layers regardless of season.
