Hoover Met Complex RV Park

The Hoover Metropolitan Complex houses this county-operated RV park within its sports facility grounds, creating an urban camping option for the Birmingham area. Located on concrete pads in what multiple campers describe as essentially a large parking lot, the campground prioritizes convenience and accessibility over natural scenery.

All sites feature full hookups accommodating RVs up to 45 feet, with pull-through access that makes maneuvering straightforward. Paul C. notes the park is "really clean and maintained by the city (trash, water, etc)," though he adds this "isn't for the 'view' campground, it is convenient." The concrete surfaces and proximity to the sports complex mean campers should expect an urban atmosphere rather than a traditional outdoor experience.

Families find value in the adjacent amenities, particularly the water park and splash pad that Paul C. describes as "a ton of fun for the kids." A playground and rock climbing area provide additional recreation options. The facility's WiFi receives mixed reviews, with some calling it excellent while others find it adequate. Brocks Gap Brewing sits within walking distance for those seeking local dining.

The campground's location next to the Finley Center creates occasional busy periods, and some reviewers mention narrow spacing between sites. During Hurricane Ian, the facility demonstrated its community role by accommodating evacuees from Florida, showing both its capacity and the potential for crowding during peak periods. Cell service appears reliable based on reviewer feedback.

For campers wanting different options, Walmart — Hoover Supercenter provides overnight parking about two miles northeast.

Many campers appreciated the easy pull-through sites with full hookups and paved surfaces in this large parking lot-style facility. Family amenities like playgrounds received positive feedback, though some noted uneven pads.

Friendly, Clean Convenient

The staff are very friendly. The park is very clean, neat, and organized. Very convenient to get into Birmingham or surrounding areas for work. The area itself has plenty to offer for business and attractions. Definitely check out Brocks Gap Brewing too, just a short walk. My only problems were that on the side nearest to the finley center, it can be a bit busy and the spots are narrow so it's not the best place for hanging around your campsite.

Hoover Met Rv Park

We arrived around 3:30 and before arriving saw a email update to our previous reservation. There was a possibility of change. Hurricane Ian sent a multitude of people fleeing from Florida that were now headed to the Hoover Met RV . I called and verified that we still had site reservation for one night. But now the RV park was completely full. I imagined total bedlam but as we arrived we found a calm orderly flow of traffic to assigned sites. Good job staff for opening up the campground to campers fleeing the storm without having to pay. I’m sure this provided a much needed relief to the families from the unexpected expense at this time of inflated expenses.

Pretty Cool Parking lot Campground

This campground is in the parking lot of the Hoover Met Complex. Easy to navigate in and out of each site. In addition to the Hoover Met sports complex and sports arena there is a new brewery within walking distance of the campground.

Clean, Easy, and Huge Campground

We stayed here while moving out of Hoover, AL.  And have been back twice because of that experience.

Good

1. Huge campground.  Haven't ever found a time when it is completely full.

2. Really clean and maintained by the city (trash, water, etc).  So always taken care of.

3. Next to huge sports complex (convenient for sporting events).

4. Next to huge water park/splash pad - was a ton of fun for the kids.

Bad

1. WIFI is meh.  Would expect more from a city campground.

2. Everything is concrete.  This isn't for the "view" campground, it is convenient.

3. City, not country.  It is super convenient to everything in Hoover/Birmingham, but isn't "outdoors" experience if you are trying to camp.

Stadium RV Parking

This is about the only place in the Birmingham area to stay in an R.V. It is essentially a large parking lot with RV pull through spaces. We use it when we go to Birmingham to visit the family. It does have a nice kids playground and you can use the facilities inside the stadium as well as the restroom at the playground. There are full hookups at every site with trash containers.

Hoover Rv Camp Review

It's mostly for Pull Alongs, 5th Wheelers & RV's, no spots for a Tent trees far away but not too far. On the outskirts of a parking lot of a stadium!
